For Ivanpah-style solar plants to match the output of Palo Verde nuclear you would need to have a square area about 18 miles on a side covered with solar arrays at a cost of about 85 billion dollars. That's how grossly inefficient and costly solar really is. It isn't the cost of the panels that dooms it. If the panels were FREE, solar still would be grossly uncompetitive.
Spot on!
California has basically shut down all their nuclear power plants. Now, it is not uncommon to have power outages. California has gone FULL retard much like the Party of the Jackass.
