The platform does nod to "Medicare for All," the policy backed by Sanders, saying: "We are proud our party welcomes advocates who want to build on and strengthen the Affordable Care Act and those who support a Medicare for All approach."

Medicare for all; what this means is that they are going to destroy one of the best health systems in the world and put it under the control of the incompetent government bureaucrats who will control costs by limiting access, destroying R&D and eliminating choice.

I like the Ivanpah "bird cooker." It is an environmental disaster from beginning to end. First, the company building it had to buy 5,000 acres of extra land specifically to move all the desert tortoises they found on the land the plant was going to be built on somewhere else because these were endangered species. But, they found more tortoises than predicted so they had to get additional land.
Then the land the plant was to sit on was expected to sell for like $500 to $1000 an acre but once the owners figured out what was going on the price skyrocketed to as much as ten times that.
Then they built the plant. The expected use of natural gas before sunrise to get the plant warmed up each day turned out to be far below actual use resulting in the plant having a higher CO2 and pollution output than a similar plant with advanced controls on it using natural gas all day put out. This resulted in the state of California having to waive the plant's allowed air pollution limits to allow it to operate.
Then it was found that the heat generated created a massive urban heat island effect above the plant changing regional weather patterns and shifting winds. This has had a negative effect on things like rainfall in the region of the plant.
And of course, the bazillion degrees of solar energy focused on the towers to heat the oil that provides energy to make steam and run the turbo-generators has proven a disaster to avian life. Birds regularly fly into the area of the plant and explode in flames...

All this to inefficiently produce a fraction of the power at a crappy 20.8% capacity factor that a conventional generation plant on a fraction of the land would produce.

Solar sucks.

For Ivanpah-style solar plants to match the output of Palo Verde nuclear you would need to have a square area about 18 miles on a side covered with solar arrays at a cost of about 85 billion dollars. That's how grossly inefficient and costly solar really is. It isn't the cost of the panels that dooms it. If the panels were FREE, solar still would be grossly uncompetitive.
