False. They voted Reagan twice, HW Bush once, GW Bush twice, Trump once. Not about pocket book issues...one of the stupidest cliches of the DNC.

Reagan was about economic issues, twice, don't you recall "are you better off today than you were four years ago." HW Bush was as rollover from Reagan, and GW Bush nor Gore didn't have economic issues front and center because the economy was doing good coming off of Clinton. Trump's election was due to the wreck of a campaign Hillary ran, and he did focus a good deal on bread and butter issues, why he kept referring to everything in superlatives, "worst economy in history," "economy is a disaster," immigrants are threatening your jobs, etc

Pocket book issues are always a key variable in any election, and when the consumer can see it right in front of them at the store and gas station, ideology is not going to draw their attention
