Despite a broad consensus on the left that the country’s most revered institutions are in trouble, with President Biden and other leaders warning gravely that protecting voting rights and fair elections is of paramount importance, the vast majority of Democratic candidates are veering away from those issues on the campaign trail.

Instead, they are focusing on bread-and-butter economic topics like inflation and gas prices. Continuing to win elections must come first, the thinking goes — and polls and focus groups show that the issue of voting rights is far down the list of voters’ most urgent concerns.

independents are sick of hearing you cry about how elections are stolen - then say it is traitorous to discount the elections, and now back to how our very democracy is under attack. it is a losing platform

the flip flopping has caused those on the fence to jump to the other side. it is one of many reasons why the midterms are going to be horrific for your side

when you cry about voting right legislation you are crying about voter suppression. you are saying the election results are suspect. Americans are sick of you saying this and we will punish you if you continue saying it. that is why all your moronic politicians are avoiding it - they understand so much more than you do about the electorate
 
Because the Democrat's brand of what they call "Democracy" is mostly found in places like Third World dictatorships.

Americans vote on that which immediately effects them, what they see and feel in their surroundings, which currently are inflation and gas. The economy is in fairly good shape, Biden has accomplished quite a bit, but citing economic indicators doesn't resonate like pumping gas. The idealism you are recommending only appeals to the base who are already going to vote blue

The final report of the January 6th Committee could be a biggie, if they are thorough and offer documentation the right wing media can't attack or turn into innuendo, it might make some difference, especially if Trump is big into the midterms

it's an opinion thread about why other people are acting the way they are

I am literally being asked to speak for all the democrats running in 2022 that refuse to discuss this "critical issue"
