Iowa used to frequently vote for Democratic presidential candidates, it would be nice if Democrats learned some lessons about winning in the Midwest.

I'd interpret this more as an early sign that things will balance out a bit more in '26. Americans aren't big on one-party rule.

No that they are cheering for a special election state level victory where the Republicans were not worried about losing their majority. Democrats poured outside money into the race and Republicans did not. Democrats were desperate for any kind of a win no matter how minor. The Republicans weren't worried about losing control of the state Senate.

This was the same thing that happened during trump's first term. Dems started to win special elections, the two in GA were so close - but it looks like history might be repeating itself - right up through the next few election cycles.
