Dem House vote-counter lacks health care votes now

WASHINGTON – The House's chief Democratic headcounter said Sunday he hadn't rounded up enough votes to pass President Barack Obama's health care overhaul heading into a make-or-break week, even as the White House's top political adviser said he was "absolutely confident" in its prospects.

The administration gave signs of retreating on its demands that senators jettison special home-state deals sought by individual lawmakers that have angered the public.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs predicted House passage this week, before Obama travels to Asia, a trip he postponed to push for the bill.

I agree it would be stupid to let any state be treated differently under the Act.....Jarod, however, is on record saying it would be "worth it" if Nevada and Missouri were treated differently so long as we got the bill passed.....I was just wondering, since apparently Nancy needs 8-9 votes she doesn't have, how many of those states she could buy off before Jarod decided it wasn't worth it.....

I assume you are agreeing with the rest of us that it would be stupid to have special treatment for even a single state?......
 
If the Demotards don't have the votes Obama will just do a Presidential edict, inflicting this shit on us.

It is a sad fact that this is how legislation gets passed. If the Republicans were being reasonable and doign what the constituants want... this shit would not be necessary.

where are these constituents that want passage of the plan currently in front of Congress?.......as I understand it the reason Dems haven't been able to come up with the votes is because of politicians whose constituents DON'T want it passed.....

We keep hearing how Republicans want healthcare reform, just not "this bill".


Do you really believe that Republicans would sign onto healthcare reform if the "right bill" were to be put forth by a Congress controlled by Democrats?

NO.

They can't allow the current administration to have ANY success if Republicans are to win back the White House in 2012.

The sooner we all admit that, the sooner honest debate can begin.
