And yet, you just had a thread on this board by some joker bitching about what he saw as a generalized bigoted attitude against American southerners with regards to race relations....while at the same time defending the Confederacy and it's Jim Crow legacy (it's wasn't so much about the slaves and race, but states rights :confused:)

See, if there was a history were white folks were referred to as "jungle bunnies" or "porch monkies" and the like, the defense that comparing Obama to a chimp is the same as comparing the Shrub (GW Bush) to a chimp would have some merit. But that is NOT the case.

Saying that the Shrub looked like a chimp is a little different than saying that Obama is an immediate decendent of apes so he doesn't have a birth certificate....the latter essentially combines racism with birther idiocy.

I look forward to the further attempts by bigots and racist to justify teabagger Davenport's slur, because they just further demonstrate the insipid stubborness and callousness of such a person and those who support/defend her.

It is more equivalent to calling Bush a (n-word). It's not right either way. Excusing one over the other because of political affiliation or skin color is hypocritical nonsense.

At least it stops idiots from pretending that putting him in clown makeup is "racism". It isn't.

You are correct.

The email depicting Obama as a chimp was no more excusable than the disrespectful depictions of Bush.

The difference is the racist connotation attached to depictions of African-Americans as simians, which Damn Yankee seems not to recognize.

I will not waste one iota of my energy trying to, or appearing to, defend it. It's wrong to picture humans as simians, it was wrong for Bush, it is wrong to do it with Obama's image.
