Debunking yet another right-wing lie

Even better was the conservative constant use of Clinton's supposed "what difference does it make" comment to imply her whole attitude toward the Benghazi attack.
In proper context, and with out the conservative paraphrasing, the statement makes sense It was a response given after five minutes of Senator Johnson's attempts to hammer her into stating exactly what she believed was the cause of the event;

"With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator."

well, I wouldn't call it 'better'- by Republican standards, it was less misrepresentation. It was an inartful statement by her. But yes, they did distort it to mean she didn't care about the attack, when that is not what she meant.

Republicans are WELL KNOWN for taking snippets of conversation out of context and twisting them around to mean something other than what they originally meant.

I agree, and this thread is to point out one example still being used, and hold them accountable in this forum at least.

You're supposedly a new poster in 2017 who wants to hold people accountable for a 2010 statement? That's a good one

Nearly everything the right says is a lie in some way. But let's take one they've been repeating for nearly a decade.

It's the Pelosi 'you can't know what's in it' lie, which I just saw repeated in a right-winger's copied cartoon in their sig.

What happened: When Democrats were trying to pass the ACA to get more Americans healthcare - and they ended up getting 20 million more covered, and better care for millions more - Republicans who were FIGHTING healthcare for Americans to protect the profits for the insurance industry but even more to simply deny Democrats any 'win', were telling all kinds of wild lies about the ACA to try to lie to Republican voters to get their support in opposing the bill.

Pelosi, frustrated with how the right-wing media and leaders were misleading so many voters, finally said that once the bill is actually the law, the voters will see what it really does, and how different that is from the Republicans' lies about it.

That's it. And Republicans have spent nearly a decade lying about THAT as well and portraying it as Democrats trying to misrepresent the bill, when the whole incident was about THEIR lying about it.

We could do this all say but I'm picking one.

Next up we could discuss the Republicans' lying about what Obama said about 'you didn't build that', meaning the country's infrastructure, which they lied meant the businesses people built - a lie they made the 2012 GOP convention theme.

The ACA is the law and has resulted in less Americans with healthcare, and more insurers are quitting every day

As I said, a lie WHICH THEY CONTINUE TO REPEAT, and as I said, this thread was triggered by seeing a right-winger REPEAT IT TODAY.

The ACA is the law and has resulted in less Americans with healthcare, and more insurers are quitting every day

The ACA resulted in 20 million Americans having healthcare who didn't, and millions more with junk policies getting better quality policies. The Republicans sabotaging the system is what's now driving insurers out.

They do the same thing with Hillary's "What difference does it make?" quote.
They do the same thing with Obama's quote from his book about protecting Muslims.

All lies, told often enough that they actually believe.

Beat me to it. You are correct.

Sorry kid, Oboobcare was losing insurers and leaving people uninsured years before Trump even announced his candidacy

So get used to it, the fact is that the GOP can just sit back and wait for people to beg for Trumpcare

Kid, you're lying.

Obamacare was doing fine and insured 20 million more people. Republican sabotage and attempts to repeal it are the threats.

I never lie, Oboobcare was forcing insurers to quit or face bankruptcy thus they dropped the plan and their customers flat. Here is a link from BEFORE Trump was elected. You can't beat me because I never lie.

LOL how is this Trumps fault, kiddy

Glad you agree Pelosi was not lying. Oh, did I misrepresent what you said? You said those words, so there's no problem. This is how unable you are to discuss the issue honestly.

Moron. I stated quite clearly that when taken with her follow up explanation, we know what she meant. But in the context of her original comment, it was vague and she left herself open to the attack.

Point was that calling people liars and pretending she didn't say it is dishonest on your part. That she later clarified her comment does not mean she didn't say it.

Also, she stated those words without anyone breaking up and taking words out of her statement. So it took clarification on her part to correct a previous statement.

Did you do the same with my comments?

Your point 1 and 2 contradict each other. It IS a lie, because they lied about the meaning of what she said.

What she said was that the people confused by the Republican lies would see the truth when the bill was actually passed. What Republicans lied was that she said the bill's contents were secret until it was passed.

Palin was CORRECTLY ridiculed for her citing what she could see as her main foreign policy qualification. She is an utter ignorant dingbat, and she was criticized correctly for being one.

No, you can't have a 'both parties do this' false equivalency. I'm sure Democrats have done it on occasion, but to a far smaller degree, without a massive national media machine to repeat the lies. They didn't make a lie about a quote THEIR convention theme.

The truth: she was saying Republicans lied a lot about what was in the bill, confusing many voters. The Republican lie: that she hid the contents of the bill from voters.

1 & 2 are not a contradiction. Perhaps you should refrain from words if you don't understand their meaning.

Second, it is not a lie. She stated just that. Her original comment could be interpreted multiple ways... in the context of what she stated. THAT is why she issued a FOLLOW UP statement to clarify what she meant.

Your comment on Palin is completely dishonest and completely takes out of context what I stated. So you by your own definition are a liar.

Kid, you're lying.

Obamacare was doing fine and insured 20 million more people. Republican sabotage and attempts to repeal it are the threats.

Try telling that to people having to pay for Obamacare. It was not doing fine. It dramatically escalated pricing... precisely as those who criticized it said it would.

With the illegal subsidies from Obama being revoked by Congress, now you will see it for what it truly is. A disaster.

Thanks, usually one would have to hang around a bowling alley six or seven hours to gain the "unique" insight one like yourself offers

Says the one that hung around a black asshole for 8 years then moved on to an old wrinkly pussy after that. I don't know who or what you hung around to be that way nor do I care. Straighten up, boy, and get your life in order.
