Debate night

Ahhh the xenophobia abounds. I'd rather be like Sweden than like Texas. That aint exactly setting the bar high though, is it?

Not xenophobic. That implies that I fear Sweden (or any foreign country). I don't fear them, I just don't want our society to be structured like theirs. And I have been to several of these countries and have family who have lived in lots of them. I do not speak from ignorance.

I don't either but you know as darned well as I do that those were the reasons that Rubio tossed that potato out there. He could have said Switzerland and he would have gotten the same response.

And a population smaller than almost any state.
True but Scandinavia, as a whole, has a large population and has equal to or a better standard of living than the U.S. Point being, there are things Scandinavia does right and I'm open minded enough to consider them and evaluate them on their own merits. Not because some hack politicians calls them "SOCIALIST!".

You bet. A line like that resonates well with the base of his party. Scored points with them he did.

Bernie has said he would rather our country be structured more like Norway. Hillary had the same response Rubio did, thanks but we'd rather be America.

I'm sure it does but crap like that gets us no where fast.

There are things I agree strongly with Bernie about. Education for one. Limiting the gross excesses of Wall Street and some corporations and holding them accountable for share holders and the publics money. Overturning Citizens united. Investing in major infrastructure projects. Label that with the term "socialism" all you want but Bernie's right on those topics.

We need to change where this country is going in it's economics and yes I'm well aware that socialism is not the answer but neither is laissez-faire capitalism. Someone needs to finally drive a stake through the heart of supply side economics and if Bernie will do it...he's got my vote cause that's in my best interest.

Appropos of nothing. It's nationalistic nonsense. That's equal to saying "I'll vote for any damned fool idea as long as it's an American damned fool idea." LOL

25-ish million across 4 countries, all of whom have America to finance their defense spending (Collective Security Mott) and a ethnically and culturally homogenous population with few major urban centers and a abundance of natural resources. Wow, what a fucking miracle for them to succeed as nations for a few decades.

Right On lr! I lived in Dallas as a kid and my wife is from Arlington. A lot of good people in Texas (and beautiful women).
You don't have to work with them everyday. Now don't get me wrong. They're nice people for being institutionally insane when it comes to politics. I mean they may be crazy but they're not total assholes. Like folks from michigan.

If you want Norway/European style socialism in the U.S. then go right ahead and support Bernie. There's a reason he's getting crushed however and that's because most Americans don't.

About 15% nationally. Maybe crushed is a little aggressive as Bernie has closed the gap some. But outside of lily white Iowa and New Hampshire Hillary's got him crushed in the states count.

Clinton will have no problem securing the nomination. New Hampshire is just a speed bump.
The press loves a horse race and so they make a big deal out of one state where she has a problem.
After NH there is no path to the nom for Bernie.

Just got through rabbit hunting with one this morning. Great guy. Kind of like most folks I've met from Texas. :)

Mott you just claimed the other day you don't like the far left in your pocket and now here you are saying you support the far left. Bernie can't pay for what he proposes without massive tax increases. And those aren't just increases on the rich, they are on the middle class as well. If that's what you support that's fine but saying you don't like the far left isn't accurate then.

The US will be the laughing stock of the world if Cheek-Flapper is even nominated, let alone elected. If you thought that Guantanamo George was cringe-worthy just wait until the world's satirists get a handle on The Duck.
