Days of Kremlin blackmail nearing an end

Dostoyevsky wrote that Russia was a slave in Europe but a master in Asia.

Putin has an affinity for Dostoyevsky.

I really think Putin wants Russia to be a Eurasian nation, not a European nation.

Much the the detriment of the European-oriented professional and educated classes in Russia.

Europe decided on their own they don't want to be blackmailed by a criminal oligarch who happens to be your hero.

I thought you said that Marine Le Pen was my hero ? You've got to stop making me an admirer of everybody that you don't like.

Haw, haw............................................haw.

No, Europe was happy to keep Nord Stream open. Biden wanted it shut.

Russia’s energy influence over Europe ‘is nearly over’ as bloc races to shore up winter gas supplies

Europe's dependence on Russian gas appears to be coming to an end, energy and political analysts say, potentially alleviating the risk of further supply disruptions at a time when many fear Russia could completely cut off deliveries during the winter.

Agathe Demarais, global forecasting director at The Economist Intelligence Unit, a research and advisory firm, told CNBC that the Kremlin appeared to be weaponizing energy supplies and "burning bridges" with Europe while it still could.

Asked whether Russia's energy influence over Europe may be coming to an end, Demarais replied, "Yes. Actually, very much so."

"Europe is heading towards a very difficult winter, probably two years of a very difficult adjustment with a lot of economic pain. But then Europe is essentially going to become more independent with a more diversified mix," Demarais said.

"And what that means is that Russia's energy weapon is going to become moot," she added. "Our view is that Russia knows that and that's why it is already killing off gas supplies or inflicting uncertainty because it knows that if it wants to do damage to Europe it has to do it now. It is a now or never question."

Donald Trump was right again. He knew Europe should not increase their dependence on Russian energy. It makes Russian armies stronger and Putin their overlord.

They need to become energy self sufficient . Europe needs to go to a wartime stance of building nuclear energy now. They need to design one or two nuclear plants and mass produce them.

It's comical that you think a strip of land along the Sea of Azov was worth burning Russia's bridges to Europe, having their army decimated, and making NATO bigger, stronger, and more unified.

There's two points here that you made, first Trump who is well known for kissing Putin's ass and he would have given Ukraine to the Russians, and then, about Europe becoming energy self reliant that I totally agree with, because Russia has got a long history of being unstable.

Dang it Cypress I hate it when I have to agree with you.

So THAT is the reason Trump sold Javelins to Ukraine when Obama and his Ukrainian pointman Biden wouldn't sell them to Ukraine. :palm: Thank God that he did that because Ukraine used those Javelins early in the war to keep Russian armour out of their capital city. Yes Trump knew Russia could not be trusted and got the Nord Star pipeline shut down. Biden almost immediately restarted that pipeline because he wanted Europe to be more dependent on Russian energy I guess. Or maybe pResident Dementia Biden didn't know Russia could not be Trusted like Trump you and I knew. :dunno:

There you go again with the telepathy

Territory generates wealth. Russia has 20-25% of Ukraine and all of the Black Sea coast. That's for starters, I guess.

Thousands accuse Czech government of neglect amid Ukraine conflict

About 70,000 people have gathered in Prague’s historic centre to protest against the Czech government, which they accuse of paying more attention to war-ravaged Ukraine than to its own citizens.

Called “Czech Republic in the first place”, the protest highlighted growing inflation dragged upwards by a spike in energy prices, COVID-19 vaccination as well as immigrants.

“The best for Ukrainians and two sweaters for us,” read a banner, a reference to concerns over winter heating bills.

Protesters in Prague’s iconic Wenceslas Square demanded the resignation of the centre-right government of Petr Fiala, which took office last December.

Why don't you remind the posters on this board what happens to Russian citizens who protest their government's war policy?
