What the fuck do you read? They have man-on-the-street interviews in Ukraine and Russia. It is Putin who is disgusting to his people. Many say little while hinting, saying what they think of Putin is dangerous.

They have spent a year and a half trying to permanently remove electricity from Kyiv and have failed miserably. Russia is not in a better position now to do it, rather in a worse position. And it is more damaging if done in the Winter.

They cut Ukraine out of the electrical grid, so the western powers were able to connect Ukraine to the European electrical grid in record time. Then Russia invaded destroying electrical infrastructure along the way, so the Ukrainians repelled the invasion, and western powers repaired the destroyed infrastructure. And then the Russians have spent a year and a half trying to bomb the electrical infrastructure out of existence, again, that infrastructure has been repaired and hardened.

Russia is running low on munitions, and is facing more hardened infrastructure. It is not going to be easier now than it was when they failed before.

Think about this: Russia got a bunch of reinforcements, that they will not be able to get again for months or even years, and started a major offensive. It pushed 5 miles in along a 3 mile front, and then ground to a halt. They captured a town that even most Ukrainians had never heard of.

Most people would call that a failure. I hope the coming Ukrainian offensive does better.
