I use the RealClear sites. Gives a variety of viewpoints from different sources. But the paper is certainly (IMO) a better option than TV.
Do you have a source for your claim that he was reported the Sheriff's office 16 times for making death threats to kill people? I haven't seen that reported anywhere except by you on this board.

Of course politics are in the equation. Wake up people, a politician was targeted and almost killed. If this were Columbine, we'd be talking about bullies along with craziness. IMO this particular tragedy is a sore point with the right, not only because of rhetoric but because they are generally big proponents of guns. We know there's going to be a wave of legislation curbing guns, probably going nowhere, but the right will get all steamed about their 2nd Amendment rights, as usual.
Does anybody really think Congress isn't going to be doing some major soul-searching after this tragedy? Geez Louise!

Any knee-jerk legislative action taken as a result of lefties trying to politicize this tragedy, is going to be exploited for being just that, an overreaction. It will also be met with stiff opposition from the GOP-controlled house, so before you go getting all cocky, you better think long and hard about this, as it does have the potential to come back and bite Democrats in the ass. I would suggest you pinheads step back, take a deep breath, and compose yourselves before you move forward. If you politicize this tragedy, be prepared for the backlash.
As for your contention that making threats is a crime, as I said, it can technically be a crime, but most law enforcement will decline to enforce it, unless there is some compelling reason to believe the threats are serious. In most cases, generic verbal threats, made by people who don't have a history of following through with the threats, are generally ignored. A lot depends on whether you have witnesses who will testify under oath, and other circumstances which may be exclusive to the particular situation. In other words, you can't just have someone arrested because you perceived a threat in something they supposedly said.
Let's be clear, the left is not keeping this in the news, neither is the right, it's in the news because it is a terrible tragedy. It is the LEFT who continues to try and politicize it, and make it because of all these things that are totally unrelated, and no proof exists to support! Crosshairs on a political ad... that didn't make this scumbag pull the trigger! Something Sarah Palin said on her Facebook page, did not make this turd kill those people! Yet, that continues to be the incessant message the LEFT is trying to promote! And about every other breath, they utter some patronizing bullshit about how we need to change the tone.... well why don't you fucking pinheads change YOUR TONE? Stop beating the GOP over the head with this tragedy and trying to infer they had something to do with this, while calling for civility!
I think that is christie's message, as well as mine and I have been writing letters for a long time about this subject and how we are only as strong as our weakest links. The 24 hour news has been a bane on our society! I have said it more than once on here. The fringe has gotten a voice as a result of this change and we need to do something to promote responsibility in society for our words.

My guess is that it was the Denver Post.... There was an op-ed on it this morning that mentioned the 16 times.... but they must have yanked it as I am not seeing it in the piece any more (though it is in one of the comments on the article still).

Back in September, he accused Tea Party members of bigotry and called Arizona’s new controversial anti-illegal immigration law “racist” and “disgusting.” He even openly flirted with the idea of ordering his deputies not to enforce it.

I said I think he continues it. He supposedly despises it. Yet in an official capacity he goes off on this partisan tangent! Rush is a pundit-a conservative radio head- He does what he does in his capacity as such.
The Sheriff is a public official whose job is definitely NOT to be a partisan talking head- The irony of his blind hypocrisy here is stunning.
