Crowds flock to reopened Jacksonville beaches as Florida hits record coronavirus case

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Dude, I'm counting on the impact of a majority of Americans. I'm counting on Human Nature. I've been a student of Human Nature since college. Individuals vary within a set of parameters, but as a group, humans often move in predictable ways.

My guess is they'll weigh near complete financial ruin of their families versus a 3% risk the weak will die. The healthy and young think they are bullet-proof which is why millions pay the penalty rather than for Obamacare. As this forum proves, several old farts also think they are bullet-proof or take Trump's word that this is a fake virus no worse than the flu and that it is grossly over-hyped.

The bottom line is that millions will stay home and go broke, but most will go back to work ASAP.

There is no more penalty for not buying into the PPACA.

The reason many people do not get health insurance is quite simply that it has become an unaffordable luxury which is simply not an option for many on a tight budget, reduced rate or not.

And neither of those things is happening in violation of the Constitution.
if it's okay to violate the constitution in this case it's okay to do it in any case so we need to disband our courts, and get rid of the idea of the republic.
If you want to fly to Chicago tomorrow, you are absolutely free to do so. If you want to hop in your car and drive to Vegas, you are free to do so. As for assembly, like every constitutional right, it has limits. Those limits are enforced when the assembly in question represents a danger to the public good.
you can make the argument that any public gathering represents a danger to the public good.

That's why that's not a limit.
Therefore, the number of people who can assemble is limited, and that's based on a threat to public health. Deal with it. It is neither dictatorial nor is it unconstitutional.
just because you insist doesn't mean it's so.

We're living in the age of the adult baby where you need to be pulled to wash your hands and the government needs to care for your health instead of you.

People who give up rights for safety deserve neither.

File your lawsuit and see how it goes. Nothing is stopping you. I haven't given up a single right that I had before. I have never had the right to assemble if that assembly was dangerous to the public.

DeSantis spoke at the WH today. Birx threw some major shade at the fake news guy from Yahoo by correcting his stats. It was great!

If the Constitution can be suspended, do I have the right to a redress of grievance.

When they came for the trade unionists I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionists.

Just because it doesn't affect you directly doesn't mean it doesn't affect you indirectly.

Of course it does. Canada is not a tribe or village and they seem perfectly OK with their socialized health care. Hell, 65 million Americans are socialists who are on Medicare right now.

Stop.

Socialist things like medicare or the Post Office are not the same as a socialist nation. There are capitalist nations with socialist underpinnings. Even China had to move away from the pure socialist ideal because they were going broke. Why were they going broke? Because Socialism doesn't work on a state or national scale.

It has exactly the same impact on my constitutional rights as it does on anyone else's. Which is to say pretty much nothing. No one is coming for me, or you, or anyone else.

Neither pure capitalism nor pure socialism works.

The best system is a hybrid combination of the two.

Governments all over the planet have figured that out.

Paranoid much?

Welcome to the Sock Puppet Army. Tuesday Night is Cookie Night.

True about "pure" anything. The current system seems to be the most stable and doing the most good: A Constitutional Federal Republic with a regulated capitalist economy and a socialist safety net for those in need. The major controversies in our nation are not one or the other but where to draw the lines. What is too much regulation as opposed to not enough? What should be left up to the business owners and what should the Federal taxpayers cover?

Beto and his fans were coming after our Second Amendment rights. Did you support his ideas or just banning like most Democratic candidates?

I'm sorry there simply can be no common ground here. it is absolutely unconstitutional to forbid by law a religious organization from congregation. There is no danger that would be enough to suspend that right. Certainly not an illness. Viruses have been around throughout all of time.

So when you say that there is no constitutional violation here you might as well be saying that the Earth is flat. There absolutely is. And I don't doubt there will be Supreme Court hearings on it.

You have a compelling governmental interest and a limited intrusion here (not permanent) as well as a practical options to virtually congregate going against your categorical pronouncement of a rights violation. Let's assume arguendo that we know that walking into the church sets off a trip wire that explodes a hydrogen bomb. Same result? On the other hand, lets assume we know that the governor is an atheist and just hates religious people, same result? Devil is in the details. No, I'm sorry there is no unlimited 1st amendment right, even to free exercise or association. Read the law, you'll find I am correct.

Jacksonville beaches show hundreds of people walking, swimming and talking in large groups — many without face masks. Twitter users on Saturday morning called out Floridians for not taking proper precautions, as "Florida morons" trended nationwide.
