I was responding to someone who said that the beaches should have never been closed, and that someone's chances of winning the lottery was more likely to happen than catching something from another human.

The 1918-19 Spanish flu pandemic only shares one thing in common with the current one -- the pandemic part. Completely different organisms. That being said, we can learn from 1918 Denver's experience. They shut down most everything in an effort to save lives. But under pressure from businesses, they reopened too soon. This is the result:

Sexy graph! Yes, this is why those states who choose to open early are great laboratories. Everyone will know in month. Maybe even two weeks if there is plenty of testing.

First, ignorant moron, there is a vaccine for flu.

Second, we know a lot about seasonal flu. How easily or difficult it is to transmit, the beginning and end of the season, etc. None of which applies to this other than it is about twice as contagious as the flu.

Third, dumbfuck, people are so used to seasonal flu that they go to restaurants, school, work, concerts, church, sporting events, and other places in close proximity to others. That’s why the numbers are as high as they are. We now have 40,000 deaths in less than 2 months WITH quarantines and isolation.

I don’t quarantine during flu season, idiot. I vaccinate. If I do get sick. I stay away from others.
