“Covid death rates are higher among Republicans than Democrats”

I got a theory. First, for the first time in forever, by 100k, there are more registered republicans than democrats in Florida. Florida has been called "God's waiting room" for a long time, because of all the old folks we have down here. Up until about 20 years ago, most of the elderly population were post-war roosevelt democrats and old vietnam era hippies. Those people are almost entirely gone now, and people moving into that age demographic probably do lean GOP (as in, "what the fuck was I thinking for all those years"!). As of 8/21, 98.8% of Florida's seniors had at least the first shot. 86% were fully vaxed. That's about as good as you're ever going to get for a vax rate in ANY demographic.

The second part of my theory is a real shocker, so stand by!

COVID KILLS OLD PEOPLE. IT DOES NOT REVIEW YOUR POLITICAL AFFILIATION. IF YOU ARE IMMUNOCOMPROMISED, IT DOES NOT CARE IF YOU ARE VAXED AND BOOSTED, IF IT CAN FIND A WAY IN, YOU WILL GET SICK AND POSSIBLY DIE.

NEW STRAIN ALERT!!! https://news.yahoo.com/pretty-troublesome-covid-variant-bq-211248699.html

THIS IS BEING CALLED "THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION STRAIN"!!

Thanks. That's pretty much what I said as well. It does kill older ppl at a higher rate than the young. Older ppl tend to be more conservative. IMO that explains why (if true) the pandemic took more (R) voters than it did (D) voters (who tend to be younger). I doubt if any of the death certificates listed political affiliation.

How sad and how unnecessary. It's hard though to pinpoint any one factor in this discrepancy. The most logical reason IMO though is not the vaccines. IMO it is the fact that older ppl tend to be more conservative and thus are (R) voters -- the same age group that has had the lion's share of deaths from the virus.

That was actually my thought as well. Like you said, older people are more susceptible to death from COVID and tend to be more Republican. Reading the article and the methods they use they said focused on counties that were more Republican but they don't know what each individual supported. So, in theory, while it might be a 60% Republican county the deaths could be all be among the 40% that are Democrats (assuming everyone in the country is either a Democrat or Republican). That of course is not likely but they acknowledge they can't break it down on an individual level.

“Covid deaths are unevenly distributed among Republicans and Democrats. Average excess death rates in Florida and Ohio were 76% higher among Republicans than Democrats”

“The partisan gap in the deaths widened from April to December 2021, after all adults became eligible for Covid vaccines. Excess death rates in Florida and Ohio were 153% higher among Republicans than Democrats during that time

“Lower vaccination rates among Republicans could explain the partisan gap, but some researchers say mask use and social distancing were bigger factors.”

As I’ve said before, no one has been more wrong more times on Covid than the right, listening to them bloviate on anything regarding Covid is like listening to Harry Dunn’s views on anything, and it appears the reality is beginning to catch up to them now

Most deaths are the elderly, and the elderly mostly vote GOP, after decades of experience and wisdom.

The ChinaDem virus decimated the WW2 generation, whom communists and democrats both despise.
