Significant Pennsylvania election law changes headed to governor’s desk

HARRISBURG — Legislation headed toward the governor's desk in Pennsylvania on Tuesday would deliver the biggest changes to state election laws in decades and provide aid to counties for much of the cost of new voting machines as a bulwark against hacking in next year's presidential election.

In a compromise package negotiated behind closed doors over the last four months, Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf secured some of his priorities to increase voting access, including allowing any voter to mail in a ballot and moving voter-registration deadlines closer to the election.

In exchange, Republicans who control the state Legislature dropped their opposition to Wolf’s insistence that counties buy new voting machines and secured their top priority, eliminating the ballot option for straight-party voting.

The Senate passed it Tuesday, 35-14, hours after the House passed it, 138-61. Wolf will sign it and help Pennsylvania shed its status as the nation's least voter-friendly state, his office said.

State law said that voters have until six days after the election — this year that was Nov. 9 — to cure problems regarding a lack of proof of identification. After the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that mail-in ballots could be accepted three days after Election Day, Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar submitted guidance that said proof of identification could be provided up until Nov. 12, which is six days from the ballot acceptance deadline. That guidance was issued two days before Election Day.

I don't accept the premise of your question. Because Democrats didn't cheat.

If anything, Trump TRIED to cheat. I mean, we have him on audio, asking the GA official to "find" 11K + votes for him. Can you imagine if Biden was recorded saying something like that?

So, Dems didn't cheat, and there was no Plan B. Biden actually won in a pretty convincing landslide. It wasn't close.

Usually, losing parties go back to the drawing board and try to figure out how to win the next one. The current GOP strategy is straight out of the rabbit hole.

Exactly four years ago democrats had the whole country chasing Russians down an absurd rabbit hole. And it only ended just in time for the Ukraine rabbit hole. Republicans have been at it for six months.

Bullshit lol.

The Russian fiasco was an international embarrassment. Democrats damaged election integrity with all the count-stopping and imaginative rule changes to make it a special Covid election *even after* Fauci himself said it was safe to vote in person.

Democrats liked it so well they want to federalize it. Luckily my Senator from WV stopped them.
