House Republicans will vote Tuesday evening on their own plan to reopen government and avert an impending Thursday default deadline instead of waiting for Senate leaders.

The House is on track for a Tuesday evening vote on a new package that includes a short-term stopgap funding bill through Dec. 15, a suspension of the debt limit until Feb. 7, and the elimination of a subsidy that helps members of Congress, their staffs, and White House employees from buying insurance in the new healthcare system.

"We are very cognizant of the calendar," said House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. "We want to find a solution that gets us moving forward and America back working again."

Wow.

You just posted this 5 minutes ago and you're already wrong:

The House Rules Committee has postponed its hearing as support for Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) new plan appears to be in serious doubt.

Just prior to the postponement, the conservative outfit Heritage Action said it opposed the measure, and rank-and-file lawmakers normally supportive of leadership expressed alarm that they had shut down the government and would get nothing for it except a punitive measure hurting their own staff’s healthcare, according to GOP chiefs of staff.

Three leading conservatives — Reps. Steve King (R-Iowa), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) — exited a meeting with Boehner’s leadership team all likely opposed to the legislation.

“I’ve got one vote and I’m a ‘no,’” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.). Yoho also said he was a definite ‘no,’ and King expressed deep reservations but left out some chance of approving it if changes were made.

Boehner can only afford to lose 15 Republican votes, out of 232, if all Democrats stand opposed to legislation, as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has indicated.

wait....Democrats in the House would vote against a solution to the debt crisis?......

wait....Democrats in the House would vote against a solution to the debt crisis?......

If the solution is proposed during the P/Government shutdown, the Government can not approve. It would condone shutting down the Government to negotiate which is IGNORANCE. DEBATE WHEN THE GOVERNMENT IS OPEN, DON'T SHUT IT DOWN, THEN DEBATE!

so refusing to do something you want to do is ignorance.....refusing to do something we want to do is justified.....the current solution proposed by the Republicans is to open the government, debate until December......the Democrats answer is no......apparently your position is shut it down and NOT debate.....

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Epic thread!

I love this thread, can we make it a sticky so it stays on the first page for the next year?

This was about as big as when the wack jobs were ABSOLUTLY sure Romney was going to win.

This is part of the leadership problem with the Republican party currently, they have no grip on reality and simply assume that anything someone says that is not 100% what they want to believe is merely the liberal medial lying.

Everyone told them this was going to happen. Hell the Liberal WSJ called it weeks ago and has an editorial today basically saying, "Told Ya".

Yes, Boehner failed.

Just like Gerud failed with his "caving last Friday" prediction, I guess.

I knew he was caving last Friday and I told you. I also said it would be official and clear to the rest of you mere mortals on October 17.

Jarod... when the GOP faithful drink the tea, they become immune to reason. You should know that.

Its been going on for years, but they are finally seeing very real consequences for it. Its how we got into Iraq.

I know many who do the same thing in there personal lives. What causes this break with reality? Why are they able to get into Congress, is it because of the FOX echo chamber?

If a group of people can agree on a delusion, and they can get a news network to also report on that delusion.. I guess they can get elected to Congress.

Today reminds me so much of election day.

I love when Reality smacks delusional people on the side of the head.

Hey Gerud...what will the banner headline in the Palm Beach Post be next Friday?

Demonstrate your amazing abilities...

I can only predict obvious results to political actions based in an untrue reality. Just like the WSJ and many other (non-delusional Republicans) were able to predict
