Why is a 1/2" emt bender the exception? Is 1/2" emt so different from other dimensions of emt? Is it the ratio of wall thickness to diameter that makes the difference?

A 1/2 " bender bends 1/2" EMT.
A 3/4" bender bends 3/4" EMT and 1/2" rigid.
A 1" bender bends 1" EMT and 3/4" rigid.
A 1-1/4" bender bends 1-1/4" EMT and 1" rigid.
Anything bigger than that, you need a bender that is powered by a motor or buy the shit at a place that sells the shit.
Someone with your "vast" electrical knowledge would know these things.
