Corzine up to no good...

wow... so desperate is the NJ Dem party that they have to try to convince voters to vote for the third party candidate in the hopes that it will cause a split vote among moderates/independents that would allow Corzine to get another term.

This wouldn't really be a problem if they were using IRV. A system that causes a drain in the votes for one candidate because another similar candidate happens to enter the race is clearly and obviously not rational.

And, BTW SF, major party politicians do this all the time. It usually backfires on them, though, because it's a very slimy tactic.

The only real reason Corzine is still in this race is because of his uber-slimy campaign that he's thrown millions of dollars at. None of the candidates can really run on their own record; IMHO, Dagget is the best choice though.

You mean they did exactly the same thing that NY Republican party did by endorsing 3rd party candidate Doug Hoffman?

Um... no... but nice try...

The Republican party of NY picked their candidate. Many National Reps along with locals, wanted someone more conservative. They chose to run Hoffman as a third party candidate. They did not (to my knowledge) put out robo calls for one of their opponents.

So much for letting the local NY Republicans decide who they want to represent them.

I read somewhere over the weekend that the last time that district elected a Democrat was in the 1850's. Seems like local Republicans know what they like.

It will be interesting to see if there's any voter backlash. Wouldn't it be ironic if voters elected a Democrat for the first time in 150+ years because the local Republicans were moderates and didn't vote for the carpetbagger brought in by the National party?
