The Republican line has been that corporations are people, but with more rights than "natural people".
I think corporations are a great invention, and work well in society, BUT they are artificial entities created by government, and have limited rights. The people behind them have individual rights, but not the corporations. For the first hundred years of the Constitution, we barely had any limited liability corporations, and the Founding Fathers were definitely not thinking of them.
