Rittenhouse was never served with the lawsuit as required by law. The lawyers served it on his SISTER (!!!) and the judge said close enough.

feb 1 2023 MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A federal judge in Wisconsin on Wednesday ruled that a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the father of a man shot and killed by Kyle Rittenhouse during a protest in 2020 can proceed against Rittenhouse, police officers and others.

U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman on Wednesday dismissed motions filed by Rittenhouse and the government defendants seeking to dismiss the civil rights lawsuit.

Rittenhouse had argued that the case against him should be dismissed because he wasn’t properly served with the lawsuit. Adelman dismissed that, saying that Rittenhouse “is almost certainly evading service.”

Attorneys and private investigators for John Huber spent over 100 hours trying to locate Rittenhouse, tracking down addresses in seven states, before they found the home of his mother and sister in Florida. The lawsuit was served on Rittenhouse’s sister, who said that he wasn’t home. Adelman said that was sufficient to qualify as being served.

America is so far gone that defending yourself means you will be prosecuted both criminally and civilly. Even if you win, your legal bills will bankrupt you.

The lesson here is don't be a hero if you are conservative.

His own militia set him up to be a patsy. Turning a cute, pudgy kid into a white George Floyd would have given them a "just cause" to start burning down the liberal (i.e. mostly black) section of town.

Kyle ended up being more competent than they thought and the Liberals brought skateboards to a gunfight.

All WSE militias are filled with dumbasses so it's no surprise the plan failed.

Still, because of the setup, there was lot of photographic evidence as everyone saw during the trial. That evidence will be played again in civil court, including all the juicy stuff the criminal court judge excluded. LOL

That's true across this country. If you are known to live in or stay frequently at a residence, and others related to you are served there in your stead -- that's a valid service. They documented the hours spent trying to track down Fatlittlemurderboy to serve him. The fact that he got lawyers to defend against the suit says that he knew he was being sued. Duh.

Trump does not need him anymore. He does not care about the crazy kid. He has been mostly silent about the people going to jail for his insurrection. They are gone in Trump.s mind.
 
I doubt it will matter. The father will have to explain why his kid was involved in a criminal activity (rioting) at the time... It goes downhill from there.

DumberthanMost; there was a lot of video evidence presented at the court trial. Are you saying the judge didn't disallow certain evidence as prejudicial? That the same evidence won't be used in a civil trial?

1. The judge allowed the lawsuit to proceed, that doesn't mean that rittenhouse can't be dropped from it later.
2. The lawsuit itself includes the city and the police agency in an effort to prove some sort of conspiracy between the police and rittenhouse. have fun trying to prove that.
3. The same videos used to exonerate rittenhouse will be used to show that there was an attempt to do serious bodily injury or death to kyle and not, as the grieving father is trying to claim, that they were simply trying to disarm him.

all in all, I understand the grieving father, but he's being used as a puppet by radical left wing orgs to criminalize self defense. The legal team of the city should investigate to find out who is paying Hubers legal team and then rittenhouse can sue those groups for harassment.
