Corporations

Pikachu is of the devil!
In a highly competitive market businesses should be unable to make large profits due to competition. Competition is suppose to keep prices down which keeps profits low. If corporations are making large profits it should create an incentive for firms to enter the market or for small businesses to expand. Vary few sectors have a natural monopoly. Every market in America seems to indicate monopolistic competition rather then true free market competition. Corporations may occasionally be able to make a large profit but it should be impossible to do so year after year. Corporations should be trying to make large profits but should never be able to do so because of the market. Corporations try to set prices rather then have the market set the price. The term large profit is relative and I'm taking about profits that are actually large. America's markets should be analyzed for why they are not competitive. The wealth of nations indicated that prices should drop the lowest point at which every thing continues to operate.

Are corporations responsible for destroying free market competition. Corporations don't want competitive markets and get regulations passed to restrict internal trade. Corporations attack other corporations and small businesses with regulations. These regulations often spread across industries and hurt unintended people and businesses. Is the CEO writing out campaign contribution checks a far greater threat to capitalism then the Hippie who chains himself to a tree.

Obviously capitalism isn't real, it doesn't exist now has never existed in the past and will probably never exist. Its just a theory that all ways gets itself out of every bad thing said about it. Capitalism is anti slavery, anti special interest, promotes toleration and cooperation. Carl Marx may have realized that capitalist theory was a lie but his prescription was not more capitalism but the overthrow of the entire system and government ownership of everything. The only thing known to be truly worst then capitalism is communism.

Absolutely....what we need is another Teddy Roosevelt in office....of course, by the time he got there, he'd be corrupted by corporate and SUPERPAC money, so he wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.

I have never understood why Presidents all ways choose to be so corrupt. If the American people love them they can always find new sources of campaign contributions. They should be able to find contributors that just want low taxes and free markets. If they want anything more then a government contract after your president then drop them and find someone else.

Carl Marx? This guy, I suppose:

Corporations are why we have the richest most innovative economy!
Are you students or what?

Does any of that innovation have something do with the principles of capitalism that American Corporations hate? The fact that capitalism created corporations doesn't mean that corporations have any loyalty to capitalism.

What are the innovative non capitalist countries?

There are no capitalist countries. Capitalism is a theory it isn't real and has never existed. Communism actually has existed and it failed. Capitalism still has never been given a chance. Elements of capitalism have been adopted and some countries claim to be capitalist.

Yes it does. All the innovation occurs do to free market competition. Corporations hate free market competition because it costs them money and they are willing to do what ever it takes to place internal barriers on trade and limit competition. Attacking your competition through the government is not good for the overall country even if it is good for corporations to do this.

For that to be true there would be no innovation!
Are you a freshman?

This is a cop-out. When confronted with the fruits of an ideology (good or bad), just claim it has never really existed it been tried.

It is not a choice. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is why the job is too large for one person.
