From what I have read, he got the 100+ year sentence for assault and burglary.

Huckabee commuted the sentence to 47 years, which allowed for the possibility of parole.

At that time, the judge who originally sentenced Clemens and the parole board unanimously recommended the commutation.

My question to you is... why are you blaming Huckabee and not the WA state system that arrested Clemens and let him out on bail???? Because THEY were in a position to see that Clemens had not reformed as the AR parole board had thought.

Bottom line, you just want to use this issue to bash Republicans. You are using the death of these officers for POLITICAL bullshit. Which makes you fucking pathetic.

You tried to turn this into a 'Tommy went to jail for pot' bullshit.

The real bullshit was the original sentence Clemens got. It highlights a part of the problem with our justice system. It tends to give harsher penalties/sentences to black/minorities. That was my point toppy. In the justice system today.... RACE IS a factor. Nothing else explains the discrepancies in sentencing.
 
This particular commutation was done the right way, however this draws attention to all of Huckabee's commutations, many of which didn't even meet the requirements of the Arkansas constitution (he didn't provide reason as required). Such attention will end any real chance he had of becoming the republican nominee for high office.

Explain to me why this is statism. If he was gunned down by a citizen with CCW it would be the same thing.

A trial is for determining guilt or non-guilt beyond a reasonable doubt when a suspect has been apprehended.

If someone fires at me, the guilt of the offender is not the question. He is not a suspect to the victim, just an assailant. His guilt is clear to me as the victim. The question is how I protect my rights from being violated in that immediate circumstance.

This officer was on patrol and was fired on. He returned fire and got the guy who was on the run four murdering for other officers.

I don't support the death penalty, but frankly, this is the kind of killing that I find totally justified, whether the state or a private citizen does it. It has a sound moral basis and it does not give an excuse for unmotivated acts of government violence and killing like we see in some other countries.

the problem isn't that the officer defended himself, justifying the shoot. The problem is that people like SM don't care if the officer was threatened or not, just that the suspect/perpetrator was killed by a fellow officer, thus they label it justice.
