Conservatives never stop crying about the media,

FYI: The supposed 'fairness doctrine' was anything but fair. It have a guaranteed voice to positions that sponsor's would ever support....not to mention that it was unconstitutional in conflict with FREE SPEECH.

The reason that liberals want the supposed fairness doctrine is due to the simple fact that no liberal political program can compete with conservative political programs.

The 1st amendment exists for a reason...free speech is just that the freedom to speak freely void of any mandated totalitarian effort to grant equal response to an opposing view.

In it's origins, the Fairness Doctrine does make sense.

In it's origins, the Fairness Doctrine does make sense.

Only if you ignore the constitution. You can't place limits and mandates upon free speech...if you do it's no longer free speech. In other words the fairness doctrine forbid anyone from publicly speaking about a subject if there was no opposing view point possible. Example: Take the Rush Limbaugh show.....he far outdistances any liberal talk radio programs because liberals can't get the sponsors that Rush does. In essence the fairness doctrine does away with a free market and limits the public's right to support who they choose to support.

Then take for instance today's advancement with technology and internet communications. The internet has far more viewers than any public tv program...just how would someone 'fairly' respond to any tweat from Trump? How do you police the net? Before Any network tv program could air Trump's tweet, they would be mandated to present an opposing view...giving free air time to those who don't deserve it. This is a free market place.....someone has to pay the bills for all network programming....and its the sponsors who foot the bill. Why should some sponsor have to pay for free air time to allow JOE DUMB ASS to show his ignorance on a national stage?

They don't, seen one wide open space you've seen them all, can't say the same with destinations that are unique

You can't be serious. Go to Africa, the northern part and get back to me.

Wait, go to Joshua Tree in California.

Wait, nevermind, you won't you'll just troll.

The purpose of a forum is to exchange views, what's the point of concurring with those of similar opinions, besides, a large number of conservatives on these forums aren't really conservatives even though they think they are, so it's interesting pointing out what I see as thier confusion

I feel the need to clarify who I am. I am a democrat of the Blue Dog variety ala Dan Boren. I am socially conservative, pro 2nd amendment (they need to leave it alone) and pro public works and very pro public education. I believe the foundation of a strong society is an educated society. So when voting on the national scene I have to pick and choose. Oh, I was an ABH citizen...hence I voted for Bernie and then Donald. I've had to explain that very last part more than once on here. Nice to meet you.

What is funny about northeasters, is they LOVE the culture from California. I visited the NE once and because of my looks and "accent" (I thought they had the accent) they called me a movie star. Some surfer/skater dude. I thought it was hilarious, and I finally gave up and let the illusion run itself.

People living in the Northeast LOVE culture from California? So people famous for thier cynicism and regionalism LOVE a culture from across the country? Sure they weren't playing you, better yet, would you even know if they were?

If your basing it on your "looks" and "accent," in a section of the nation noted for accents, they definitely were playing you

Just did. The courts ruled that the FCC was not constitutionally bound to enforce the Fairness doctrine established in the 40s....that same year, 1986, Mr. Reagan refused to support legislation to make the fairness doctrine mandatory...he vetoed it, and rightly so.

If so, you don't "lean right" nor are you a "conservative democrat," your a moderate, and as much as you won't accept it, the Clinton's Democratic Party is where you fall

The Second Amendemnt reference is unnecessary, no one is talking about taking away guns, regulating guns is the issue, and regulating guns doesn't violate any Amandment, no right is absolute. Personally, I think the Second Amendment is about as relevant as the Third Amendment

And supporting a socialist and then voting for someone who brags about exploiting a capitalist system doesn't seem logical

Why rightfully so?

People voting for Obama then Trump doesn't seem logical either does it? I had friends vote for Ron Paul then support Bernie. Sound logical to you? If one doesn't like Hillary who were their options this election?

Well, you are wrong. BTW, it was both white and black people.

I bet that smarts.

Can't read? Its unconstitutional to force limits on speech when some sponsor is footing the bill. In essence the fairness doctrine is anything but fair...it gives a public platform to those who never paid the bill and don't deserve the airtime. This is a free market constitutional republic....not a totalitarian socialist regime that gets to say who says what, and when they can say it. :good4u: Capitalism fuels the engine that pays the bills....not Big Brother who has nothing that he has not stolen/taken by force from THE PEOPLE....under penalty of fine or imprisonment.

Wait a minute, now we're talking about Africa?

Point being, seen Death Valley, the Rockies, Grand Canyon, so why would I need to go to Idaho or Montana to witness wide open space spaces?

And it's not only what you see, visually, but what you experience culturally, that which makes your intellect work

You have no idea why people travel there.

The Fairness Doctrine mandated opposite points of view be heard, how is that not fair?

And about the only free market left in America is the local farmers' market, pure competition is a paragraph in the economics text and that is about it
