Benefit of the doubt about what? If they are going to cancel the election it doesn't matter what you or I think. It is already decided according to you so mail-in balloting is irrelevant.

Yeah, exactly. It's not hard to see where this is going:

Step 1: Postpone or cancel elections
Step 2: Prevent mail in voting during a pandemic of a disease that can be spread by asymptomatic people touching voting machines, pens, and being in close proximity to one another
Step 3: Cancel the election on the grounds of #2; that it is merely too dangerous for Public Health for voters to convene at polls nationwide

Prevent mail-in voting...
While the virus can be transmitted by asymptomatic people, therefore sending asymptomatic people to the polls puts everyone going to the polls at risk, which is just the emergency needed to...
Cancel the election altogether.

I'm HOPING that this isn't the case, but we know that COVID will come back in the Fall, and given how terrible Conservatives have been with this response, we can expect a second outbreak and pandemic and yet another round of social distancing if we are forcing Americans to go to the polls in the midst of that instead of safe and secure mail-in voting.
