I think the existence of millions of Americans who identify with the GOP (the rational core, not the increasingly large nutjob faction) would make it necessary to keep the conversation open. Unless you think we should outlaw the GOP. That's a different conversation and I doubt it will go well.
Identifying with the GOP at this point is identifying with fascist, racist, antisemitic, and otherwise bigoted Nazis. And truth be told, the party has been that way since Goldwater and the racists and racist apologists took it over in 1964 running on an anti-CRA platform.
William F. Buckley, the Godfather of Conservatism wrote in the first issue of the National Review that "Conservatism stands athwart history yelling stop!" less than 1 year after the Supreme Court decided Brown v. Board of Education.
Conservatism is racism...it is fascism. It is hatred. Conservatism is not something that will produce anything for the common good. Conservatism is evil because of all the things that get done in its name. Believe people when they tell you who they are the first time.
From budget busting and economy breaking tax cuts to racist xenophobia, to a complete mismanagement of the economy whenever they get power, Conservatism is failed and needs to be eradicated.
Look at the Conservative states...subtract the Blue cities that actually pay most of the taxes and have most of the commerce, and you're left with deserts of McMansions that everyone is hold up in at all times because there are no public spaces except for the church, and everyone is running around with their guns hanging out like a bunch of psychos.
When Conservatives go low, crush their necks under your shoe.
