The sponsor of Tennessee legislation that seeks to prohibit reading or sending cell phone text messages while driving says the practice has resulted in the deaths of two people in his district.

The measure sponsored by Sen. Jim Tracy passed the Senate Transportation Committee on Tuesday on a 6-1 vote, with two abstentions. The companion bill was also scheduled to be heard Tuesday in a House subcommittee.

The deaths happened within the last couple of years, he said. In one incident, he said a motorist who was texting crossed the center line of a highway and struck another vehicle. The other death happened when a teenager on his way to school texted his girlfriend to say he was going to be late, Tracy said.

You might have noticed that my examples deal with bills that are outrageous and eye-catching. Banning texting while driving is supported by 89% of Americans and hardly controversial at all. Personally I don't think you need a specfic ban like this, anymore than a ban on anything else you do in a car, like looking at your laptop for example, it should just be under a cops discretion as dangerous driving.

Another reason your mockery fails is that texting while driving has been banned in more Liberal places by Liberal Democrats like Cali before this bill from Tennessee.

In other words, you fail massively. At least this time you managed not to bullshit with Waterfacts.
