Interesting theory, but pure baseless conjecture on your part. My 401k and SEP accounts are completely private and I can change brokers any time I want. GovCo's only role is regulating them like banks. Most of these alternative types of investment vehicles were put in place by GOP sponsored legislation.

Nice try, but I was forced to pay, and my employer forced to pay, into a program where my rate of return is close to zero if not negative. I would have gladly paid that money into my own portfolio, in fact I reduced my FICA payments as much as legally possible to do so, so I could take the risk" in the markets.

We are talking about private retirement programs taken out of mandatory government SS like deductions and invested privately.

The problem is the program will be managed by fat cats chosen by GOP. They will take care of themselves before their clients.

Who do you think is getting the perks for handling the $2.5 trillion surplus treasury securities in the Social Security Trust Fund? Or selling treasuries to fund the borrowing for our annual deficit? Handling these bonds is very profitable for the "fat-cat investment firms." This helps fund the retirement accounts of American, fund the Social Security system, and borrow the money necessary to fund our borrowing. There is nothing inconsistent with investment firms making money while helping American workers and retirees.
 
It's the disconnect of the final sentence from your first three that is the breaking point. More of the earnings should go to workers not the investment firms is my point. Thank you.

I don't use SS or medicare tho' the gov't forces me to pay for them under threat of violence to my person.

Roads are infrastructure, not welfare, and are mostly financed by user taxes and fees depending on your State. Police and courthouses are not welfare, they are part of the domestic legal justice system.

Much of the FDA is funded by user taxes. It is a not a giveaway to special people only.

My community has a volunteer fire dept.. It is not federal welfare.

I pay for water and sewage every 3 months when I get the bill. Don't you?

You are as dependent on the government as anyone else, and all government financed services, whether they be roads, bridges, food inspectors, retirement insurance, medical research, medical insurance, and educational programs are paid for by the taxpayers for the benefit of all. Trying to draw false distinctions is just a game.

Don't like kicking in some tax dollars to benefit all the citizens of the nation? You could always move to Somalia or somewhere that won't collect taxes from you
