There is no evidence to suggest that the death penalty acts as a deterrent. The state also has no business deciding who is worthy of life and who isn't.

It usually cost more to kill them than let them rot in jail. Maybe not for Texas. Lot's of states life in prison means 15 to 20. So killing him is def a deterent from him doing it again. I don't think someone should ever get DP on circumstantial evidence alone.
