Congress Doesn't Want to Take On Another Tough Issue

Are we suppose to shed tears for the people in Congress who don't want to do their job because they are afraid it might cost them their job?

How bad of a cop out is this? I mean this is truly sad.

Obama: Congress may not tackle immigration soon

President Barack Obama says Congress may "have no appetite" to deal with immigration after going through a tough year.

Obama told reporters traveling with him on Air Force One that Congress has been working very hard this year and may not be ready to immediately take on another controversial issue.

The president says there's work to do on energy, midterm elections are coming up and he doesn't want to do something "just for the sake of politics." But he says there needs to be a lot of work done on immigration and he wants to come up with solutions that can get broad support from the American people.

I first hear that about them not wanting to do cap and scheme. I wasn't upset. Democrats are pussies. I don't recall republicans being in power and cowering in fear of the minority party.

another great line to use against obama come re-election...

this guy is a serious magalomaniac...I WORKED CONGRESS HARD....so they may be tired now....

seriously, who does he think he is? and come on, its only april!

I don't think Republicans are any different in being afraid, they'll back down too. The election year excuse doesn't really fly because everything is political 100% of the time. Essentially he is saying we will only work on something "tough" every other year.

I think it's hilarious. These same congressman that work part time in an office that talk for a living are tired. The same ones that voted themselves a raise higher than the average workers pay at midnight on a Friday a few years back. Yeah tell that to the roofer or other construction worker.

Hey boss, I've had a really tough year and I have a job review coming up in a few months so can I kind of do work that won't be too difficult? Thanks!

In a normal time someone with a mandate as large as the Democrats had could accomplish a lot in two years. However, there was blunder after blunder on HC, and the Republicans decided to run an extremely vehement strategy. It would be nearly impossible to motivate the vulnerable ones to do anything else at this point; especially on a third rail issue like immigration.

I read something where Lindsay Graham, who was maybe the one Republican working with the Democrats on this issue, said immigration reform is dead until '12 until we secure the border. His reasoning was if they try to pass legislation in a bad environment it could set future legislation back years or something like that. I have no clue.
