Congratulations Pocahontas

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
She successfully killed Spirit Airlines. They were in trouble for a long time. But JetBlue was going to come in and buy them.

Up steps Pocahontas to oppose it and single handedly got the acquisition squashed. Now all of those jobs are lost because of her.

She really is a servant of the people isn’t she?

I guess she was worried about a “monopoly”. Dumb twat

1. Did Spirit Airlines “go under” today?

Yes — Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This is being reported by major outlets including:

  • Reuters
  • Associated Press (AP)
  • Bloomberg
  • CNBC
Chapter 11 means restructuring, not liquidation. Spirit is still operating flights while it reorganizes.

✅

No. There is no evidence that any single senator caused Spirit’s bankruptcy.

What actually happened:

  • The Department of Justice (DOJ) sued to block the JetBlue–Spirit merger in 2023.
  • A federal judge ruled in January 2024 that the merger violated antitrust law.
  • The judge’s ruling — not any senator — is what stopped the acquisition.
Elizabeth Warren supported the DOJ’s antitrust position, but she did not make the decision.

Sources:

  • DOJ lawsuit announcement
  • U.S. District Court ruling (Judge William Young, Jan 2024)
  • Reuters & AP coverage of the blocked merger

✅

According to Reuters, AP, Bloomberg, and CNBC, Spirit’s bankruptcy is tied to:

✔ Long‑term financial problems

  • High debt
  • Rising fuel costs
  • Engine issues with Pratt & Whitney
  • Increased competition from Frontier, Allegiant, and ultra‑low‑cost carriers

✔ The blocked merger didn’t help, but it wasn’t the cause

Spirit was already in financial distress years before the JetBlue deal.

✔ No evidence of mass job losses yet

Spirit is continuing operations under Chapter 11.

The post you shared includes:

  • Personal insults
  • Claims assigning blame to a single politician
  • Statements not supported by court records or financial filings

Neutral outlets (AP, Reuters, Bloomberg) report:

  • Spirit’s bankruptcy is due to financial and operational issues, not a senator
  • The merger was blocked by a federal judge, not by Warren
  • Spirit is restructuring, not shutting down permanently

The claim “she killed Spirit Airlines” is

📌

  • ✔ Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
  • ❌ Elizabeth Warren did not “kill” Spirit Airlines.
  • ✔ A federal judge blocked the JetBlue merger after a DOJ antitrust lawsuit.
  • ✔ Spirit’s financial collapse stems from years of debt, engine issues, and market pressure.
  • ❌ No credible source attributes Spirit’s bankruptcy to a single politician.

Blaming someone else and calling them names?

She wants you to take Amtrak instead. It's a train. It's government. It sucks! YOU get to use it!

Nice trolling.
I've been doing this a lot lately

So I wonder where those passengers go to get to their Carnival Cruises?

Waffle House Airlines?

she actually bragged about it. So yeah it is her fault. Not that they were initially insolvent but preventing the lifeline. That isn’t her job. Guessing she is protecting interests of larger airlines?
Yeah they care about a failed airline.

Keep going. It's entertaining.

You’re acting like Elizabeth Warren personally walked into Spirit HQ, unplugged the lights, and told everyone to go home. Spirit didn’t die because of one senator, they’ve been circling the drain for years.

The DOJ blocking a merger isn’t some dramatic conspiracy, it’s literally what happens when a failing company tries to use a buyout as a life raft instead of fixing its own mess.

Blaming her for Spirit’s collapse is wild. That’s like blaming the fire department because your house burned down after you spent a decade wiring it with extension cords from Dollar Tree.

Spirit didn’t need a lifeline, they needed a time machine and a competent business model.

I know you were trolling. The question is why.
It's something I do seeing as how so many threads here are completely full of shit. Spirit killed Spirit. The thing I find odd and questionable is Spirit wanted to merge with Jet Blue and some asshole federal judge (is there any other kind?) shot it down because of anti-trust laws. What, is Alaska, Southwest, Frontier, et al., not sufficient competition for a merged Spirit-Jet Blue airline?

Warren's involvement here was because she saw the merger as likely to raise ticket prices above what Spirit was charging. She didn't want that to happen and was, in a way blindsided, when Spirit went full bankrupt instead. She's an idiot, the federal judge was an idiot. Spirit had a marginally profitable business model, and it caught up with them.
