I just hope we can play someone other than the yankees in the alcs.
 
lol well its either yanks or Cleveland. likely the yanks. and they have the best record when u consider they won the win the tie breaker.
 
The Rockies are playing a tiebreaker tonight between them and the Padres to see who gets the Wildcard spot.

It would be like the Miracle Mets if they win... :D

Oh good grief no! I just cringe every year when I realize that it's nearly football season.

There's just to much of it. Case in point: today the online version of our local daily newspaper carried one actual "news" feature and three, count 'em, three! features about the local university football team.

We've touched on this before. Where I went to school we had NO athletic scholarships at all. University sports were played by, hold your breath now, actual students. If their grades fell they were off the team and there was no whining and crying and bullying from some athletic coach to have that overturned. Seats during games were actually occupied by students. Here they can hardly get a seat for their own school's games. (And it's not because the teams are any good).

I guess that's why I have such a hard time understanding all this hype about college sports, in the national media etc., and why grownups are still (or even more so sometimes) so emotionally involved in a school sport that they probably didn't even play themselves. No kidding, when we first moved here we went to a football game against Nebraska and there was a fistfight in the stands in front of us between two middle-aged guys!

I just don't get it.

That was a wild game. And btw - he was out at the plate. didnt touch it.

Nah, he snaked his hand around. I watched it frame by frame and the shot from behind you can see him snake the hand around his foot as he passed.

Of course, all that matters is the call.
