Confederate flags are banned from CMA country music festival, officials announce

Went to a C-W concert decades ago. I was a kid and had no choice; it was my mom's idea. It was her favorite star, Loretta Lynn, and some goobers from that TV show Hee-Haw. It was at the Grand Old Opry at the Lake of the Ozarks. We knew it wasn't going to be a pleasant night when we approached the doors and someone came flying out and puked all over the stairs.

Never again.

wow...someone drank to much at a concert...maybe u should stick to KIDZ BOP

Has anyone ever been physically harmed by a flag ?

If you dont want to SEE the flags just say so but pretending that they are a threat to anyone makes you look foolish and do not comprehend WHY some people dont like seeing them. Is that the message CMA wants to send ?

In answer to your first question:

On September 12, 1920, armed white men abducted a black prisoner from the Clarke County jail in Quitman, Mississippi. The captive, Will Echols, had been transferred from a neighboring county "for safekeeping" after the Mississippi Supreme Court stayed his execution. Convicted of murdering a white night watchman at a local lumber plant, Echols narrowly avoided the gallows when another black convict confessed to the crime. Less than forty-eight hours later, Echols's bullet-riddled corpse hung from a pole alongside a rural highway. Before pumping dozens of rounds into their victim, the mob reportedly shouted, "To Hell with the Supreme Court," and forced Echols to kiss a Confederate battle flag. www.oah.org/tah/issues/2015/november/the-cause-was-never-lost/

Apropos to this, 56 years later:

45 years from that, and you have the yahoos waving it at the Capitol on Jan. 6th, of which dozens of officers were injured, one died.

CMA has finally owned up to this BS Confederate Flag defense. You need to GTFU and follow their example.

So no, it was rapidly moving bits of metal.

And you too have missed the point that CMA has not differentiated the emotional reactions to a flag and tried to make it seem a weapon.

I'll try to simplify it for you...

CMA included colored cloth among the items prohibited for their potential to cause physical harm while they might have forbade flags or other representations of hurtful ideologies because they are hurtful.

The barbaric confederate flag to which the confederacy was destroyed by President Lincoln's Union Army and to which the U.S. annexed the confederacy at in particular saving the soul of the South and pursuing a more civilized nature in this part of the western hemisphere, which of course continues to be a ongoing challenge. Waving and flaunting the barbaric and shit stained legacy of the confederate flag in America is equivalent to waving the flag of all foreign enemies in America too.

That should be waving the disgraced and un-American confederate flag in America is equivalent to waving in America or the U.S. the flags of all foreign enemies against America.

It's because all the confederate flag is now is a symbol of white supremacy and hatred. We didn't pervert it to be that way, you did.

Quit whining you redneck loser.

White libs burn, piss and shit on the Union flag. :dunno:

Ban all flags except the U.S. flag and the racing flags. Fine by me, it's a private event.

No chuckles, it was a precursor to deadly violence, as history tells...Just like the Nazi swastika. Or maybe you missed the 1976 pic of the yahoo trying to impale the brother in Boston with the American flag?

The CMA recognized that for generations the symbol of the Confederacy was a sign of threatened violence against black folk...a matter of fact & history whether you acknowledge it or not. Given the rise of that flag's use at various white supremacist/neo-nazi/klan rallies/marches/protests were they provoked/instigated violence, and that non-white folk were getting more recognition in the country western music field, the CMA chose NOT to give the okey-doke to the aforementioned cretins.

Your last sentence comes off like some drunken simpleton trying to justify racist rhetoric. Not surprising. Carry on.
