Condi Rice for VP?

Back up your claim that Cuban citizens get lesser healthcare because they don't pay for it.

Cuba is strong on preventative medicine .. much stronger than we are in the US. There is a clinic in every neighborhood, a doctor on every corner.

Is it a perfect system? Nothing is perfect.

Is it a far better system than pre-Castro, pre-socialism, post-American and Mafia control? Absolutely it is without question.

American students study there who would never be able to afford the costs of medical school in the US .. and their "cost" to study there? They must commit to practice in an under-served and depressed area IN THE UNITED STATES for a period of time.

What do you do when people and countries you don't like do good things?

Cuba provides free health care without the worry
http://worldfocus.org/blog/2009/06/26/cuba-provides-free-health-care-without-the-worry/6016/

There was an article posted here a while back talking about it...

I'll see if I can find it. It really dug in to the Cuban system and found that the tourists get the cream and the residents get the residue.

Recent stories, such as this one: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/opinion/fl-oped-cholera-martinez-thu-0712-20120712,0,7086921.story tell an entirely different story. therealcuba.com is a great place to go where Cuban nationals tell the story.

Why stop with the history starting in 1940?
Why not go back to 1762?

I asked you a question and instead you got defensive and posted an article that you CHOOSE to accept and apperently completely REJECTED anything else that is different then your allready decided conclusion.
This isn't a debate, it's just the act of throwing articles and seeing which one hits the other.
I also wasn't aware that an article written by someone who was given a tour, is more accurate then the information coming from those who live there.

Remember the acts of the Nazi's, when the POW camps were inspected. They handed out new clothes, blankets, sheets, etc and when the inspectors left, it was all collected back.

Since you're anti-anything that disagrees with you; I won't bother. :palm:

Do us both a favor and don't bother.

I posted what the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION said about the healthcare system in Cuba just FOUR MONTHS AGO and you're talking to me about the Nazi's. You don't get it. If I posted what the WHO has to say about Cuba just 4 months ago .. does that not answer your question about what I think of your articles?

More importantly, does that not answer what the WHO thinks about your articles.

Additionally, I've asked you quite a few questions that you simply ignored .. but I guess you must have like prima donna staus here and get to ignore uncomfortable and civily stated questions, but demand answers for your questions.

Try this .. compare pre-socialist Cuba with the Castro-led socialist Cuba. Can you do that? I've asked you Cuba-haters to do that several times and everyone of you hides from that truth.

So do us both a favor and post to someone else on this issue. We can dodge the inevitable rancor.

I'm aware of the "real" cuba.com and its mission. Take a moment and visit the site http://www.therealcuba.com/

Find "Who Are We" Do they openly state who they are?

Look at the site. There are nothing but horror stories about Cuba as if nothing positive has happened there.

Compare that image to the plethora of statistics, data, and quality-of-life measurements that clearly demonstrate that Cuba has made exponential gains for its citizens since the revolution of Castro .. you can start with what I posted from the WHO.

You tell me which is the better illustration of the real Cuba.

really? how so?

your second question is beneath you. seriously. btw...how does the dem party vs. the gop represent "their" agenda and issues?

We believe in affirmative action .. even though white women have been its biggest beneficiary.

Do you? Does the Republican Party?

We are the most antiwar demographic in the United States.

Are you? Is the Republican Party?

We believe in unions.

Do you? Does the Republican Party?

The Republican Party doesn't even want blacks to vote .. and have a long ugly ass history of disenfranchisement of the black vote. Why in the hell would black people want to vote for a republican .. which is a question that I'd like you to answer.

I could go on with all the most obvious things that I don't understand how you could miss.

My 2nd question was meant to address something you don't seem to have ever considered. Why wouldn't we support the party that supports blacks representing themselves?

The one that comes from the people who go there as opposed to people who just take the data their government gives them...

You don't like it because they go there and tell their stories, I get that. But again, simply ignoring eye witness accounts because you don't want them to be true doesn't make them false. That they seek to combat the "official" stories put out by the government with what you call "horror stories" doesn't change the facts.

I don't disagree that they have good medical care, just the belief that it is available to the citizens of Cuba on the same level as the medical tourists. It isn't.

Just as I don't disagree that Canada has good care, when you can finally get your appointment.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/checkup/2010/02/canadian_premier_has_heart_sur.html

There is a reason the Canadian Premier came to the US for surgery rather than stay home or go to Cuba.

"YES, BAC; you're always correct, when it comes to Cuba."

How about comparing Cuba healthcare with other South American countries? If the US wasn't so vindictive and had any fucking sense they would be working with Cuba to improve healthcare in both countries. I am hoping that Obama in a second term will open up trade with Cuba but I also hope that the Cubans do their damndest to prevent the Cuban Mafia holed up in Miami from returning. All they will do is return Cuba to the Batista days!!

It is laughable to the point of ridiculous to even try to compare our state of the art healthcare in the US with the third world shithole that Castro and his socialist revolution turned Cuba into.

I do agree that we should lift the embargo. But probably for different reasons than our fiends the socialosts

I'm disappointed you would repeat the lie, bac.......I didn't see you responding to my post about vouchers, either.....

The fact that you are this uninformed on this issue is unfortunate .. you are uninformed because you've put your head in the sand.

That's not my problem.

I don't agree with vouchers .. they solve nothing. I support public education.

Like all things when the gobblement gets involved, our public education system is a shambles and two tiered. Those who can afford it get their kids into good schools. Like the OWEdummies, who eschew public education for a high priced private school and blond supprters like you look the other way at the hypocrisy.

Yes, I can see why you would oppose vouchers for inner city blacks in DC. I mean it was bad enough their mothers didn't abort them like your hero Margaret Sanger wanted. Why give them a chance at a quality education? They might do something crazy and become self sufficient, not need the gobblement and stop voting democrat. And we can't have that now can we? You libs gots ta keeps dem on da plantation anyway you can

While I would agree that our overall health care is better... Cuba's is not a third world shithole. It actually is a very good system. I would agree with Tom... we could all be far better off if we ended the dumbass embargo and worked with Cuba rather than hindered them with our embargo (which does absolutely nothing for us)

For those who are actually interested in the history of black voter disenfranchisement in America ..

Race, Voting Rights, and Segregation
Techniques of Direct Disenfranchisement, 1880-1965
http://www.umich.edu/~lawrace/disenfranchise1.htm

For a perspective on more recent actions by republicans to attack black votes ..

American Blackout

Additionally .. there is no voter fraud in the US. Often, most American voters who are eligible don't go to the polls. Yet, it is republicans who are behind the voter-id laws that are designed to reduce the number of voters going to the polls .. specifically the black vote which republicans know are going to democrats by wide margins.
