Maybe it would help if we explained it further lol.
Ok, say Trump exercises his executive authority and shuts down the left's precious Russian Investigation to Nowhere. It would actually be tempting from Trump's standpoint, but he's apparently smarter than that.
It's presents a major political problem: it would open the door to impeachment. Impeachment doesn't require criminality. They could start proceedings just based on the fact he stepped in and stopped an investigation.
Trump has his warts---but stupidity isn't one of them.
Now, if Trump were actually guilty of colluding with Vlad he may have been desperate enough to play the executive card on Comey and the Investigation to Nowhere. The hope being that Senate Republicans would vote against impeachment. And they likely would but it's not a slam dunk.
End result, Trump is damaged politically but he stays in office.
This is more of a nagging question for the left. *Why didn't* Trump exert his authority and stop the investigation, lefties?
If he's guilty, it's a no-brainer, right?
