The Hill, quoting “officials familiar with the documents,” reported overnight that Comey penned a total of seven memos describing his talks with Trump on the Russia case earlier this year – and four of them had markings indicating they contained classified material at the “secret” or “confidential” level.

According to the report, the memos recently were shown to Congress -- and the FBI claimed they were all government documents, despite Comey’s description of his notes as personal.

Trump seized on the news Monday morning.

“James Comey leaked CLASSIFIED INFORMATION to the media. That is so illegal!” the president tweeted.

he claims in The Hill regarding Comey’s memos are a throwback to the same kind of allegations against former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, whom Comey’s team investigated for mishandling classified material on her private server and email.

A special counsel has been tasked with investigating Russian meddling in the campaign and possible collusion with Trump associates, ever since Trump fired Comey earlier this year.

Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Monday that James Comey "went silent" when asked about the memos the former FBI director wrote about his conversations with President Trump.

The former House Oversight Committee chairman said on "Fox and Friends" that he called Comey to talk about the memos, but that Comey wouldn't discuss the documents.

“He said he wouldn’t talk about it, he wouldn’t tell me where they were and it really raised a lot of eyebrows as I went back and talked to the staff and other members and said, ‘Look, he’s not going to give these up easily,’ ” Chaffetz said.

Chaffetz was responding to a report by The Hill that more than half of Comey's memos contained classified information.

The recently retired lawmaker said that if the memos did contain classified information, Comey may have broken the law by sharing them with a friend.

“You can’t do that, it’s against the law,” Chaffetz said.
 
Now,congressional investigators are likely to turn their attention to the same issues to determine if Comey mishandled any classified information in his personal memos.

In order to make an assessment, congressional investigators will have to tackle key questions, such as:

Where and how were the memos were created, such as whether they were written on an insecure computer or notepad.
Where and how the memos were stored, such as inside his home, his briefcase or an insecure laptop.
Were any memos shown to private individuals without a security clearance and did those memos contain any classified information
When was it determined by the government that the memos contained classified information, before Comey took them and shared one or after.

Comey didn't "leak" anything, as it was not done covertly. He openly turned over his account of his conversations with Putin's personal dick sucker and ass spreader to the media for the sole purpose of getting his story out in public before Trump's Propaganda dept, led by Kellyanne Conjob and Sean Shyster, would be able to create a lot of false public perception.

And could any one of you chin dribblers tell us exactly what classified "secrets" were in the memos?

Or is this just more empty Trump hot air?

of course it was a leak !! Comey said he leaked it to NYTimes to gin up a special prosecutor.

Do you need to be reminded of the rules of handling classified info?
didn't you learn that from Hillary's emails?
