Come on, Republicans. Our midterm losses are the final straw: Dump Trump now.

The American people rejected Trumpism and his MAGA movement in the midterm elections?!! Now is the time for the republicans to reclaim their party?!! The American people want democracy over autocracy?!!

The day after the midterm elections, on what should have been a day of reckoning for Democrats, Republicans are instead the ones who should be doing some serious soul-searching.

Polls had predicted for weeks that voters were motivated by concerns over 40-year-high inflation and the economy, in addition to a rise in illegal immigration and crime – and that they believed Republicans were best suited to address these problems. President Joe Biden’s approval ratings were also in the tank.

Voters' anxieties didn’t just disappear. So what in the world happened?

Blame Donald Trump's obsession with being a GOP kingmaker. His failures this week should serve as a warning to Republicans that if they don’t distance themselves immediately from the embattled former president – or, heaven forbid, if they back him to run in 2024 – then they are in store for a shellacking in subsequent elections.

Marc Thiessen, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, summed things up well on Fox News, calling the election results a “searing indictment” of the GOP.

Even though voters weren’t happy with the direction of the country or what was happening to their pocketbooks, in many cases they couldn’t bring themselves to vote for the Republican candidate.

"The Republican Party needs to do a really deep introspection, look in the mirror right now, because this is an absolute disaster,” Thiessen observed.

This seems to be the consensus among conservative pundits, as they try to make sense of the missed red wave – or as one of my colleagues put it, the "red ripple.”

As of this writing, control of Congress is still unknown. It shouldn't have been this close, given how midterms typically punish the party in power.

It turns out, voters – even those deeply worried about gas prices and grocery bills – couldn’t bring themselves to support candidates with flimsy qualifications or who bought into 2020 election lies.

Unfortunately, there were too many of those candidates – largely thanks to Trump’s interference in the primaries. Those candidates made it to the ballot in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and other states.

There's a reason the MAGAs when they bring up "Senile Biden" get furious at us when we counter with twump. "You're obsessed with trump don't talk about trump!", they scream at us.

The midterm results is why. They embraced trumpism and trumpimsm bit them in the ass hard.

Wow.

For starters I have never claimed to be an Independent. I am a lifelong Republican. Have never said otherwise. Because I didn't vote for Trump, nor spend much time talking about him, and have voted for Democrats doesn't mean I'm not a Republican.

And yet you try to have a balanced viewpoints. That's being an independent. An independent Republican perhaps.

You're on this board almost as much as me so you see the same thing I do. People talk about the guy nonstop. Being that he was the President and hasn't gone away it's understandable to a degree, but people barely discuss anything else politically. It's all President all the time. Hey to each his own, people can discuss what they want. But people here can't stop talking about him at all times.

Trump is in the news constantly. He makes appearances almost everyday. He rants like 5-10 times a hour on Bullshit Social. He holds many rallies. That makes it a topic. And it is political. And guess what??? This is a political discussion board. Gasp!

Do you say the same about those who posts constantly about Obama, Michelle, Hillary, Bill Clinton and others? No? See that proves my point. You ONLY see Trump. Nothing else.

I want him around? Because I love having someone represent my party that I didn't even vote for and is costing us power? Not quite sure how to respond to that.

Yes you do. Your post proves that. Nobody wants him around. What we really want is him to be held accountable. Other than that, fuck him.

This is hilarious for multiple reasons.

1) a number of liberals will go through withdrawal not being able to talk about Trump everyday. It's almost like your coffee that fuels you.

2) Democrats 100% want Trump to stick around because they've had really good election results since 2016 'running' against him, even if he wasn't on the ballot

3) Democrats funded #MAGA candidates because you thought they would be easier to beat in the general; you will do the same going forward

Any Democrat claiming they want Trump gone is lying. You may not want him to be President again but you want him around.

In short dude- We (and I will step out on this limb and say I speak for all Democrats) just want the real Republicans to return back to morality and dignity for yourselves with GOOD WILL expressed towards all mankind- where a lie is a lie, and the truth is the truth again, and that no one is above the law, and an understanding that we are all equal and everyone should be treated that way.

Is that too much for a Democrat to ask of a Republican!

This is the Democrats hope for the future!

The Democrats want to work with Republicans to address and help to resolve all the issues that concerns us all- your party's concerns and issues and ours!

This can never happen in a Trump era!
