IN TRUTH journalism is a pretty straightforward business.
Particularly when it comes to reporting. If you get the who, what, where, when, why and how of any story you can cover anything.
The death of a princess, assassinations, financial crashes, political turmoil or even a kiss-and-tell revelation of a cheating celebrity all fall into the simple framework. What reporting is not about is choosing which facts are covered. That’s why the manner in which the unrest in a number of German cities on New Year’s Eve was presented on the BBC and on German television brings shame on the profession.
It might be an inconvenient truth for those obsessed with the culture of appeasement of all and any minority, however heinous any act or crime they perpetrate might be, but it is a fact that it was gangs made up of North African and Arab male migrants who sexually assaulted, abused, robbed and, in at least one case, raped around 100 young women in five cities. Up to 1,000 men are believed to have been involved and the virtual wall of silence took almost a week to collapse, and then only after a couple of the victims waived their right to anonymity and agreed to go on German TV.
They had harrowing stories to tell. One 18-year-old woman, named Michelle, said she and her friends in Cologne were surrounded by around 30 North African and Arab males who groped and then robbed them. In Stuttgart two teenage girls were robbed of their mobile phones while they were being sexually assaulted.
Two others, Isabel, 16, and Johanna, 17, said: “We felt we were game being hunted. They were grabbing us on our breasts, crotch and backsides.” One victim, Katja, told of her ordeal as she tried to leave Cologne’s main railway station: “I was touched about 100 times in the space of around 200 metres.” Another was seriously burned after her attackers stuffed a live firework in the hood of her jacket. One German police officer described the night of violence: “We went to look for women in the crowd. I picked one up from the ground. She was screaming and crying. Her underwear had been torn from her body.” Graphic stuff, I’m sure you would agree, and certainly worthy of inclusion in any coverage.
Yet strangely, despite the BBC’s obsession with all matters European, its supposed flagship dealt with the whole affair in just a few seconds and made no mention of the ethnicity of the men involved. Going anywhere near anything that has the faintest hint of Islamophobia doesn’t fit with the Beeb’s craven agenda. Presumably, hapless viewers were left to think German men must have gone on some beer-fuelled crime orgy. The problem of course is the liberal media elite would rather we never found out about any of these inconvenient truths.
For them the supposedly wonderful multi-cultural world is a nirvana to which we must all aspire. Try telling that to those poor German girls. We mere ordinary mortals have seen it for the unrealistic and poisonous scam that it is. Of course we must tolerate and indeed welcome other cultures but they must fit in with the predominant culture of the land.
Equally shamefully, the German ZDF TV network failed to report it as well but has now issued an apology and put matters right, although faced with growing public disapproval they had no choice. Still the Left political elite is in a state of deluded denial. Cologne’s mayor Henriette Reker said it would be “completely improper” to draw any connection between the attacks and the migrant influx. Wonder if she’d fancy strolling round the part of the city that has been recently declared a “no-go area” for women due to the high number of sex attacks late at night? She has even called for the city’s residents to have a new “code of conduct” whereby they keep “an arm’s length from strangers”. Why? So now it’s the woman’s role to keep away from sexual predators rather than the attackers to abide by the law? It is for the new arrivals to learn how to live in and enjoy the delightful freedoms of the West rather than usher in restrictions on our young people. Hideous scenes that were seen in Germany match the accounts of how a number of female journalists were treated in Cairo during the so-called Arab Spring in 2013. One told how she was stripped naked and repeatedly assaulted as other men cheered on her assailants.
Back in Britain the vile grooming rings of mostly Pakistani males were allowed to flourish for too long due to the crippling fear of causing offence by just telling the truth. However, it has never been more important for journalists to continue telling those truths. Because be in no doubt, the politicians who got us to this point are too scared to do so.
