Coke-head ballplayer plays the race card

Playing "the race card"???? Are you saying the race card doesn't exist or isn't appropriate to be mentioned?
I'm not cutting him any slack for being "coked-out"....but everyone knows that white drug use is viewed differently from "black drug use", and punished differently in courts of law.

That you would post this article, shows you to be a "race-baiter". Oh, holier-than-thou. If we only knew the skeletons in your closet.

Go tell that to Darryl Strawberry

Oil Can played in Boston which is a racist City. You read interviews with black athletes who played in Boston during the '70's and '80's and it was particularly bad. Now I think his beef is more with the league as a whole but he played during that rough era in Boston. His story is similar to basketball player Craig Hodges who played with the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. He was an outspoken black man who felt he was banned from the league for his beliefs. As the author of this article says it's hard to claim racism when 80% of the NBA players are black but Hodges still feels like he was singled out.

Especially when you remember that black people are only about 12% of the US population. Makes the NBA seem kinda racist doesn't it? How many asians you see out there?

Listen I'm not actually listening to excuses made by "druggies" or even "ex-druggies". It's all about responsibility and taking it, owning it, and moving forward. Druggies have no credibility. Ex-druggies do.

LOL
Guy is a druggie but blames race for his failure. It's textbook race card playing. He failed because he sucks! He didn't get a second chance because he wasn't that good.

There's been no evidence to back up Hodges charges but I also don't think it out of the realm that NBA owners could back off a guy who they feel is militant in his views and could bring unwanted attention to the organization. However he also played 13 years in the league which is a long time. If owners really disliked him he never would have lasted that long. His game and his body started to break down towards the end of his career and athletes are often the last to see that about themselves so it is not surprising they may blame alterior motives/circumstances for what they refuse to see.

Druggies don't talk coherently....you ought to know that. LOL
