When you begin a retort by suggesting that an objective, testable provable FACT is simply an opinion, and then follow it up by declaring that Global Warming is a product of man (as if the Climate has never changed in the history of this planet and is not a natural cyclical occurrence long before the industrial revolution)....and lastly attempt to refute the fact that 49% of this nations power grid depends upon coal production by providing a link that is measuring TOTAL ENERGY OUTLAYS and SOURCES not ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION with FOSSIL FUELS totaling 87.4% of TOTAL energy consumption while the inefficient GREEN ENGRY barley covers 5.6% (with the majority coming from HYDRO Electric production and with others (wind, solar., etc.) providing just 3.1% combined.
Talking about attempting to piss down someone's back and then tell them to relax its ONLY RAIN.

Coal did provide almost 50% of this nation's Electric power source......it has came down a bit...thanks to OVERREGULATION and the spiking of production costs (Obama did declare he would bankrupt the coal industry by making it to costly to produce coal)......it was a 49% it dropped to 39% in 2014 and to 33% (still double of the Mark Twain Lie you attempted to get away with by saying that it was just a little over 17%...... its just like a libertarian/socialist lite to attempt to manipulate or omit certain critical stats (figures don't lie....but liars figure)....the reality is the demonstrable and testable fact: Fossil Energy is responsible for over 85% of this nations TOTAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION et.al., Electrical Grid energy production ( reported by your own link).....the next truth....Coal is directly responsible for providing 2x the fuel to make the electric grid possible that you declare as being 17% (a demonstrable and statistical LIE). 2 Reasons that percentage has fallen. Overregulation (as those drops occurred during the Obama Administration as began what he said he would regulate the coal industry in bankruptcy).....the next reason or the drop off? Coals cousin (natural Gas) which is often located around COAL SEAMS ......Obama made it cheaper to use gas than coal....but combine these two job producing cousins and guess what? Can you do math? In Jan. 2012 there were 90,000 jobs in the US now there are 50,000. In 2009 1,200 million short tons were produced. In 2015 750 million short tons were produced. Do you get the drift.

The Reality is the fact, The United States depends upon fossil fuel to provide "YOU" with all the modern hypocritical Luxuries that you now enjoy....not to mention the security of having a national defense that allows you lay your head down on your pillow at night and not be concerned about you or family losing their lives while sleeping.

Global Warming is a virtual fact. It is not an absolute fact, but the evidence is so overwhelming it may be accepted as just as much of a fact as is evolution. For all essential purposes, at this point, with the effects predicted already beginning to occur, Global Warming is a fact. You don't have to accept it. You are entitled to call it an opinion. But that doesn't change anything. Global Warming doesn't care if we accept it or not. It is just going to keep right on rolling along and causing drastic and inhospitable changes to our habitat until we do something about it.
We have to make some terrible choices. We are learning that our technology and our industrialization has some heavy consequences. Those who like the technology and profit from it will not want to accept this. That doesn't matter. We can choose to take measures, which thankfully most of the world is already doing, or we can pretend nothing need be done (mostly American conservatives.) There is a reason most of the opposition to accepting our situation comes from American conservatives. That's because most of the corporate profits affected, and the opposition corporate PR are in the USA. The rest of the world pretty much gets it. That's why the USA stands alone outside the Paris Climate Accord. Because we elected the worst possible choice of all the candidates for President.
I don't like that dealing with climate change means coal workers have to lose jobs. There just doesn't seem to be any way around that. And really, it does them a huge favor, because that work is not very healthy.

You are utterly lost. Clinton passed laws saying coal plants needed to put stack filters on their plants. The plants sued. When Bush came in he dropped the suits and so....done. There were laws that forced plants to go to cleaner technology when they refitted or repaired plants.. The plants got congress to agree that it only counted when they rebuilt 35 percent or more. oddly, they never attained that level. So no cleaning. You really are a stupid human being, yet with such misplaced arrogance at the same time.

Many will not understand this. Some will think I will have nobody to talk to. They are wrong. There are people with manners. Not as many as the trash talkers here, but that is not a problem. There is too much activity on this site to keep up with it all anyway. So I am going to build a nice little group of friends here who want to be polite, like they really care about one another. That's what I have in real life, and that is what I will have here. That means I am going to have to make some examples out of some people and show that I mean exactly what I said in my Signature.
Also, it does not escape me that when people are unable to argue their positions solely on points of merit, and feel they must resort to putting down the opposition? When people act like that it usually means they are not really confident enough in their own position to simply state how they feel and let it be. As if they don't think their own position is strong enough to stand on it's own merit. I refuse to be the target of such venting. Nothing personal at all. I simply choose to remain above that. You can do that, you know. We all can. I choose to.
I know there are many on this planet who have a genuine love in their heart for fellow humans. I know they exist because I find examples of it constantly. Sadly, there are also some who are filled with rage and frustration. They are just looking for someone to direct it towards. When we enable one another to do that to us, we perpetuate the grief and hatred. I am not going to do that.
All we have to do is find that love in our hearts for humankind and look for it. It is out there. It is inside all of us. We are intelligent beings, but we are creatures of habit. We Americans have some bad habits. Lately one of them is being mean to others on the internet. Very similar to being mean, dangerous, and overly aggressive as drivers, something which has existed long before the internet, but something which has become worse over time. I have to chuckle when I think that some of our worst posters here post like some of our worst drivers drive, but it's sadly true.
Habits can be changed if you try hard enough. That is a very powerful lesson in life. Do your habits control you? Or do you control your habits...
For the others reading this, if you are not proud of your habits, and there is a small part of you, a nagging feeling, that it is not right? Listen to that. You can change your habits. Let it begin with enjoying a mutually respectful and long lasting exchange of ideas with me. You never have to worry that I am going to tell you off. I don't do that. I argue on the basis of merit.
