Coal Keeps Winning! 4 West Mine (Greene County, PA) Closing - 370 Jobs

Those jobs won't comeback unless Trump is allowed to roll back draconian restrictions placed by Obama's EPA.

WHAT? The corporations have had their way in coal regulation for years. Trump already changed the rules for dumping their waste directly in rivers. Coal is going away. Not by regulation but by alternative energy sources. Those jobs are never coming back. you have Repub house senate and presidency. So it is golden. They head the regulation agencies. Honestly are you that dumb?

I don’t know about PA but WV coal is moving again.
the gambit seems to be to equalize the playing field, and establish better incentives for steel mills here.
It can work. excess capacity is as much the problem ( China's over-production) as anything else

Yeah, coal will never be what it was [the miners knew that better than Hillary] but coal wasn’t as dead as Obama was making it. Even a modest increase in coal mining jobs in a small state like WV, matters. Those are good paying jobs and for every coal job there are several, good paying jobs, in the support trades.

Another coal mine in Pennsylvania is closing, despite the efforts of pro-coal President Donald Trump.

Though Trump has slashed environmental regulations, market forces are hurting coal’s chance for a revival.

The closure of the 4 West Mine in Greene County will cost 370 miners jobs, as StateImpact Pennsylvania recently reported.

Hear about the impact the closing will have on the miners and what the outlook for the coal industry with reporter Reid Frazier:

Did you not even bother to listen to the truth provided in YOUR LINK? The reason for the shut down had nothing to do with regulations (other than the fact that is was becoming impossible to safely work this seam of coal that has PLAYED OUT in becoming thinner and thinner each year.....resulting in reduced profits and making is unfeasible to continue to work it at a loss with 2 miners losing their lives recently). Don't bother you at all to lie...does it? Yep....Mr. Trump is responsible for the geographical conditions and topography in Pa. just like Bush caused the hurricanes while he was in office. Did you also not pay attention to the revealed fact that this community has a net gain of mining jobs since Mr. Trump was elected....as they have between 800 - 1200 new jobs compared to the "forced shutdown" of this one mine's 300 lost jobs....never mind the fact that this area lost some 3000 mining jobs during the Obama Administration having been reduced from 8000 jobs in this area to 5000 jobs....while Obama was in power. Next time...before you attempt to have a knee jerk reaction to something you think might be negative to Mr. Trump.....comprehend your own source. Its called lying by "OMISSION"....you know, just like Comey and company did when they refused to give ALL THE FACTS to a fisa court. As pap said, "A half truth is the same as a WHOLE LIE."

Half truths are a Socialist propagandist's bread and butter.

Thanks for posting the whole truth.

Dollars to a doughnut....you fascist hypocrite, you are using the product of these men's labor as we speak. Little things, like Electricity, the plastic in your internet access device, etc., Yep...its a dirty and one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, but......someone other than snowflakes must do that necessary job in order that you might enjoy your toy's, heating and entertainment systems. Why are all leftist such hypocrites?

Hello and greetings hvilleherb,

Can you give an example of these restrictions?

It is unclear how Obama was able to do something, but Trump can't undo it.

Here....let the MAN explain it himself, they say a picture is worth a 1000 words, what then is a video worth? www.youtube.com/?v=3RevRZaZaZQpk Obama said one of his missions was to Bankrupt the mining industry through new laws that have never been subject to REPRESENTATION (the epa has no constitutional authority to make law void of legislation by THE PEOPLE) The reasons for these new taxes? The false premise that Carbon Dioxide is poisonous to biological life....when no life on earth could exist without Carbon Dioxide. Its all politics and lies.

Hello and greetings Darth Omar,

So, what is our priority here? Some temporary easing of the inevitable loss of coal jobs, or the environment we all live in?

Hello Ralph,

Well that certainly puts things into perspective, doesn't it? Kind of looks like a bit 'o liberal spin on that one. Make a big deal out of a played out mine closing while ignoring other nearby job gains. Quite the misrepresentation.

Thanks for listening to it and posting those numbers. So if there were previously gains of possibly 1000 jobs, and 370 were lost, that would leave a net gain of 630. Add that to the 5000 would be 5630. Still a lot less than the 8000 it once was. So what happened to the other 2370? Are those the jobs that are not coming back? Did automation play a part in that? How about dwindling coal sales and competition from fracking?

Hello and greetings Darth Omar,

Part of the problem is progressives want to make a binary issue out of it.

It’s not an either/or thing. Coal may never come back to its glory days—but it’s not going away either. The political mistake Obama/Hillary made was in trying to make it go away.

It’s also a practical mistake. There will probably come a day when the world doesn’t need coal but we aren’t there yet. And by forcing the issue, Obama forced a lot of people out of good paying jobs and onto unemployment. Families suffered, drug and alcohol use went up.

There was a reason WV voted against Obama twice and went landslide for Trump—they knew who had their interests in mind and who didn’t.
