CNN Poll: Double-digit post-speech jump for Obama plan

the Dems in the committee rejected an amendment precluding illegals from coverage.....the act requires that employers provide health coverage for their employees....what if an illegal alien is an employee...

So you want a bill that specifically prohibits employers from providing illegal aliens health insurance coverage even though it is illegal for employers to employ illegal aliens? Do you wear velcro shoes?

omigorsh...what was I thinking.....certainly no company is going to employ someone when it would be illegal....that could NEVER happen in the US....

that only covers one subsection relating to affordability credits....it says nothing about the other methods of coverage, nor does it address who's going to pay for illegal aliens health care needs when they show up at the hospital.....

So, not only do you want public money to not be spent on illegals (which Section 246 already prohibits and which is all the Republicans were trying to accomplish by amendment) but you want illegals to be prohibited from obtaining any form of health insurance through any private transaction and on top of it you want to prevent hospitals and emergency rooms from treating people that lack proper documentation?

You're one sick cookie.

Right, adding your amendment is just plain stupid for a whole host of reasons.

Employers that knowingly hire illegals do so because they know that they can pay them shit and not give them any benefits. It's not as though there are a bunch of folks that knowingly employ illegal aliens and offer generous health insurance packages to them. And even if there were, it isn't as though some prohibition on providing illegals health insurance will suddenly stop employers that knowingly hire illegals in violation of federal law from knowingly providing illegals health insurance in violation of federal law.

Its' a stupid non-issue. I understand the desire to prevent federal funds from paying for illegals to have health insurance but what you are proposing doesn't do that. In fact, it doesn't do anything but give people like you something to bitch about.

why?....for pointing out that the Dem plan doesn't deal with one of the more significant causes of problems in health care......why should people who have no right to BE in a country, be entitled to free health care FROM a country....

more evidence of why liberals ought not be allowed to run a country....their solution to problems is "there is no problem"

Imagine the impact of that on American health .. especially given the number of airborne diseases that are spreading.

The right would rather destroy the country than live in equity and fairness.

OK. Let's say you're walking across the street and get hit by a bus. You don't have your identification on you. You lack proof of citizenship. What do you want to happen to you.?

Under your plan, your lack of sufficient proof of citizenship means you cannot be treated.

Think a little. Just a little.

Great poll
The sample of speech-watchers in this poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. Our best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is about 8-10 points more Democratic than the population as a whole.

LOL that's hilarious.

a sample of less than 500 and skewed nearly 50%

I'd like to quote this as example number 9,449,308 demonstrating the black-hearted and empty soulessness of the republican base.

What the hell is wrong with you?

My peers or myself have had medical emergencies in foreign countries, and their health care clinics provided health care without hassle, or without giving us crap for not being tax-paying citizens of their respective countries.

Obviously, you have a different set of moral priorities. Clearly, if you were running a hospital you would turn away a migrant mexican child with a broken leg.

Clarification if you would...

1) Were you and your friends visiting or living in the country?

2) Were you there legally or illegally?

Point taken.

PiMP's position is that people who are undocumented should be denied all medical treatment unless they have the cash to pay, apparently.

Nah, I'm pretty sure they would, even with PMP, not be denied emergency services. It just makes no sense fiscally or politically to cover their cancer care though.

CNN Poll: Double-digit post-speech jump for Obama plan
Posted: September 10th, 2009 05:01 AM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Two out of three Americans who watched President Barack Obama's health care reform speech Wednesday night favor his health care plans — a 14-point gain among speech-watchers, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll of people who tuned into Obama's address Wednesday night to a joint session of Congress.

Sixty-seven percent of people questioned in the survey say the support Obama's health care reform proposals that the president outlined in his address, with 29 percent opposed. Those figures are almost identical to a poll conducted immediately after Bill Clinton's health care speech before Congress in September, 1993.

The audience for the speech appears to be more Democratic than the U.S. population as a whole. Because of this, the results may favor Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tune into the speech. The poll surveyed the opinions of people who watched Wednesday night's speech, and does not reflect the views of all Americans.

(Full results after the jump)

WOW! Democrats liked Obama's speech and favor his plan...like DUH dude!
