Clinton & Sanders Tie In Iowa Democratic Caucuses

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton declared victory Monday night at the all-important Iowa Caucuses – despite being neck and neck with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Iowa Democratic Party Chair Andy McGuire called the race between Clinton and Sanders “historically close,” but didn’t proclaim a winner. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley suspended his campaign late Monday.

Via CBS News:

Dr. Andy McGuire said Clinton was awarded 699.57 state delegate equivalents, Sanders 695.49, Martin O’Malley 7.68 and uncommitted, .46.

One precinct still hadn’t reported, in Des Moines, with 2.28 state delegate equivalents.

Clinton’s camp noted that, even if Sanders got all of the 2.28, “Statistically, there is no outstanding information that could change the results and no way that Senator Sanders can overcome Secretary Clinton’s advantage.”

Sanders called the results a “virtual draw,” saying his “come-from-behind campaign” is one for the history books, writes the television news outlet.

If Bernie wins in a state that's not all white I'll buy into him more but Iowa and New Hampshire ultimately mean very little.

I simply do not see him pulling it out anywhere but New Hampshire, I support him and will be voting for him.. but I don't see it.

He did not even win Iowa, had he won Iowa, by a percent or so, I would be more enthuastic about his chances, he tied Iowa.

It wouldn't matter. You have to win the black and Hispanic vote to win the Democratic nomination. Bernie's numbers are improving with those groups but still are far behind Hillary's.

and the republican party needs 40% of the latino vote to win the general.

Impossible for your racists party

So blacks and Hispanics, along with CPUSA, will pick the Dem. nominee for president......:palm:

Sadly I agree.

If Rubio is the nominee, it will be every interesting to see what happens with the Hispanic vote.

Is his Hispanic identity enough to get those voters even if his policies are seen by that group as anti-Hispanic?

I had a serious girlfriend from Cuba for many years, according to her, many non-Cuban Hispanics traditionally do not like Cuban-Americans.

The first generation of Cuban emigres are essentially the ejected upper class of Cuba. They are totally different than most other immigrants, who are usually poor and destitute.

So now that you're a self admitted Socialist, will you be getting your honorary membership in CPUSA soon....

The world is not black and white, I support some additional socialist elements in our government, if that makes me a socialist, ok. Its not a dirty word.

It was interesting to hear that it was so close that literally coin flips gave HillBillary a "victory". Six counties tied and used a coin flip to determine the winner between HillBillary and FeelingtheBern. FeelingtheBern lost every coin flip.

That's inaccurate. The coin flips were for county delegates. There are 11k county delegates. So it made barely any difference, and didn't change the amount of national delegates each candidate got.
