Clear Evidence That Obama Wants the Elimination of Private Health Insurance

Some on the left are disingenuously pretending that this bill will not harm insurers are capitalism or markets yet there is no question that is Obama's ultimate intention.

"My commitment is to make sure that we've got universal health care for all Americans by the end of my first term as president. I would hope that we set up a system that allows those who can go through their employer to access a federal system or a state pool of some sort but I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out." - OBAMA 2007

That's his own words. He does say employer rather than private, but we all know what he means especially considering the Dems are so adamantly opposed to an ownership society of people paying for their own insurance.

His near term plan seems to be to fatten up private insurers right now, then when rates go up as they will because we have no choice but to buy insurance and they are being regulated more in terms of accepting higher costs and risk. Then the left will blame free markets even more and offer public insurance.

And he was actually talking about employer coverage, not private coverage. Eliminating employer coverage has been a neoliberal talking point for a while.

Every single leader that pushed this bill has openly stated that this is the "first step", in order to sell this rubbish to the other congress members they were even told that they would later "fix" it, that this is just a "starter home"...

Seriously, we would have to be self-grabbing-in-public-ly stupid to buy that it isn't the goal to get single-payer government provided health care.

That's the goal of liberal, but, again, without a 40 seat or so gain in the liberals in the caucus (from their current position) it's pointless to even speculate.

Let me get this straight, Obama saying he can envision the elimination of employer provided coverage is irrefutable evidence that Obama wants to eliminate private insurance entirely, whereas Bush's support of Social Security privatization means that he doesn't really want to privatize Social Security. Do I have that right? If so, where can I get my very own right-wing secret decoder ring?

I already addressed this. Read more than just the gist of things and learn something.

So what are they going to replace employer coverage with? The Dems are going to be in favor of people buying their own insurance - you know the "ownership society" they so vigorously rejected when Bush just mentioned it?

he will take your guns too and make you drive a Prius
No I only got in the video that he plans to see private health insurance eliminated.

Your invincible arrogance fallacy looks especially retarded given that Obama himself provides the evidence.

<Psst, this is the part where you say Gerber, Ged or some other attempt at blustering your way above actually debating anything>

Private insurance is the problem with health care! Its nothing but greedy corperations wanting to fill their coffers by any means. Which includes screwing their customers for every thing they can get.

Of course Obama wants to see universal health care. That's why this bill is so important. It is a step in the right direction.

Every industrialized country and some not so industrialized countries have universal health care and not one single country has reverted to the "pay or suffer" system and every country started out with a "pay or suffer" system. Every one.

You got it all wrong. It's the government who screws us every chance they get.
