This is fairly strong evidence Trump is making this up. This is a direct quote, via video, that Clapper had no knowledge of this.

Now, could it have happened without his knowledge or is he lying?

Is The Clapper saying that the NSA can't wiretap whoever they want, whenever they want? Because Snowden says different
 
So its sad to me that people just don't care about a President who lies almost every days.

Neither Trump nor Obama would ordinarily have knowledge if or when such a activity is started or a request made to the FISA court.....

The question then is, was there EVER such an activity requested by any agency to intercept information of Trump or his election team....

and if there was, who requested it and on what grounds.

Its note worthy the Clapper only mentioned Trump, and did not include members of his election team.....

Time for you to cry 'Uncle'. trump only claimed the tower had a 'tapp'. Of course other members of the team were tapped, because the Russians they were plotting with were tapped per common practice.
 
clapper is a damned liar, traitor and a filthy swamp rat... drain the damned swamp and kill the vermin of the swamp so they cannot infest any more.
 
So we are supposed to believe that there are communications between Trump administration and Russians yet there were no wiretaps?

Then how do people know proof positive there were communications?

That's the point I was making.

There can only be evidence of communication between Russia and Trump people if someone was listening in. If no FISA request was granted, whatever evidence they had on Trump, it didn't rise to the level of probable cause.

To use the standard everyone enforces on Trump, the Trump/Russian collusion theory is a lie.

It doesn't work for me either.

A couple of things: one is there are means of surveillance that don't include wiretapping. Someone should ask Clapper if Trump was subject to surveillance. Second, as a technical matter, the FISA court *orders* the wiretapping or surveillance.

So, it could be technically true that Clapper didn't wiretap Trump Tower and it could be technically true that Obama didn't order it.

And from what I saw out of the last 6 months of the Obama administration, neither would surprise me in the least.
 
Every one admits that a FISA warrant was issued.......they all want to pretend that nobody asked for it........get a clue.....judges don't do things nobody asked for......

The FISA court is the rub and the fly in the ointment if you're looking to hang Trump.

If the FISA court turned down a request for a warrant---that's the end of the Russian conspiracy. If they granted the warrant, then Trump wasn't lying. At best, he was technically incorrect about the Obama connection, since it wasn't necessary for Obama to sign off on it.

If it's your mission in life to catch Trump in lies, there it is. But most everyone else will know what Trump meant: they willl be incensed by the fact the government was being used by the opposition party to destroy a candidacy.

Maybe a slightly bigger deal than the former.

But it's got plausible deniability written all over it.
