The Civil War was about enforcing the old Whig 'American System' of massive corporate welfare and protectionism favored by the Republicans, period. They could never compete with the South's 10% tariffs.

Falling back on strawman claims like 'neocons' just means you don't have anything that makes any sense as a rebuttal. 300% tariffs aren't effective on anybody but enemies, in which case just ban their imports entirely and embargo any exports going to them; 300% tariffs are just faggotry and cronyism running amuck.

I'd rather have huge companies grow here than China.

huge oligarchs sprouting up due to tariffs is not the argument against you think it is.

when production is kept in the country, a rising tide does raise all ships and the benefits of capitalism are true again.

AS for 'neocons', REagan kept the MFN trade status for Red China, and loved subsidizing moving plants overseas. The status had to be renewed every year, and REagan supported it his entire 8 years. You don't know shit about 'neocons', you just parrot it whenever you're at a loss for real facts.
 
One of my exes was indian and relayed to me a story:

there was a successful Indian business man (the dot kind) who lived in a smallish village in india.

as he grow more successful and older he once attempted to move to a more modern city, for the conveniences.

the day he was to leave the entire village and some adjacent ones came to block the road and not let him pass.

he immediately understood and went back home and lived in the village the rest of his life.
