Not at all. Nobody has suggested that Congress enact establishment of an official religion, AFAIK.

That would remove about a third of the Republican party.
Duh! Trump made every effort to become a dictator After losing the election!
Evangelical Christians that made Trump their Messiah!

Hello Callinectes, thank you for that interesting reply.
The democracy you refer to - aka the Westminster model - consists of electing MPs to a national parliament. The head of state is not elected and has little or no power. That's the crucial difference from the US. The people, or "mob" as you call them, could not elect a Trump figure even if they wanted one - which of course they don't.
You don't think the US needs a responsible conservative party for the system to work? That's all right then; it hasn't got one.
As for sane management, you think that will emerge from a party apparently dominated by Trump cultists with a leavening of Christian Nationalists? Good luck with that.
You’re welcome.
And this is what you want? Seems they couldn’t elect a biden figure either… even if they wanted one - which the polls are showing they don't. (Although I must say, the idea that tater head would be powerless is attractive)
Responsible to who or what?
There’s no Trump “cult” in the GOP. If there’s a cult of any kind, its a cult of ideas, which is what I voted for. One of my fondest wishes is that Trump doesn’t run in ‘24, but instead announces at the last minute that he’s endorsing someone young who has the EXACT same platform as he did, forcing you guys to run around with your hair on fire looking for russians, porn stars and tax returns. Would I vote for Trump again? In a heartbeat. It’s just that there would be so much superfluous jackassery surrounding him that it would be a pain in the ass.
Christian nationalists? Patriots who believe in the Christian god? And you ask me if I think the USA “needs a responsible conservative party for the system to work?” While you place blame for the failures of said system on Christian nationalists and “Trump cultists”? Hypocrisy!
