Fast Food restaurants always take your cash or credit card first- before any food is served up!
No need for Fast-Food workers to be rude to the customers unless they ask for a handout or something!
Now I know Chipotle has a help yourself food line, where you get what you want and pay at the end of the line.
But, unless the Restaurant has some kind of evidence that someone has ever refused to pay at the end of the food line, then I can justify their refusal to allow them to return to the restaurant.
That is usually handled by management though!

I have also seen posted on the wall behind the cashiers of restaurants, pictures of certain individuals that are stated as banned for whatever reasons.
These are normally backed up with police reports!
You will see that a lot in convenient stores as well as restaurants.
That is pretty common in smash and grab areas of certain towns.

Restaurants are allowed to ban certain individuals who have tried to steal something or people who have been civil disobedient in their past on their premises.
Just as retail stores are as well.
Usually, the suspects are photo identified by security cameras, and the Corporate Office will issue the banning after it's been reported to the police.
And then the restaurant or retail store will post the banning sheets for all to see somewhere in the store or restaurant for future reference.
This is the normal procedure for handling things like this!
