china, japan and other nations in the area, are you ready for war with china?

I guess you obviously missed all of the recent Chinese saber-rattling with the Philippines?

Unmentioned in this conversation is the Republic of China (Taiwan), which I have (and had since Obama's election) the gravest doubts will survive and Obama presidency.

I've toured Okinawa and Taiwan extensively. They're both heavily fortified, but in a compact manner. Like Pearl Harbor, an enormous first strike could knock them out in a dramatic fashion. The same would apply to the DMZ defenses in Korea.

After which the PLA's huge superiority in manpower could easily occupy Taiwan and the Japanese and Philippine archipelagos.
You have mistaken me for someone who thinks your not a moron

And you support saber-rattling?

only when one opposing side is big enough to think twice about the cost of a war vs what would be gained. china needs more resources to support its growing economy and population and the other nations being threatened cannot defend themselves severally or collectively. it is not large populations that are being threatened, just their resources.

So your answer is "yes, as long as a Democrat is rattling the saber"?

So the Dear Leader you voted for might provoke war with China? I didn't know Obama was a war monger.

just who is provoking whom?

it appears to me that china is making a grab for resources that belong to other nations and obama is saying that we will not sit on the sidelines

since a war with the us would be more expensive than cheaply grabbing up some other small nations resources, obama is saying think twice...

So your answer is "yes, as long as a Democrat is rattling the saber"?

it depends on whether things proceed past saber rattling and i do not care which 'party' does it as long as we do not get into a shooting war, especially a nuclear war

Obama is such a tough guy...:rofl2:

while the pla is huge, their transportation and logistics are not very good over water and with today's air/sea/land/subsurface missiles they would be sitting ducks.

Uh, yeah. That was true about 10-15 years ago. Like most problems that existed far on the horizon in those days, we chose to ignore this one as well. The Chinese have done far more than merely made progress.

Missile guidance technology from the Loral Corporation (remember them?) sold to China over the objections of intelligence and defense agencies by the Clinton Administration, because Loral was a generous Clinton campaign donor.... Charlie Trie, Johnny Chung, Wen Ho Lee, et. al. The combination of their spying and our traitorous leadership selling us out, left us screwed.

Perhaps you missed the space news from a month or so ago? The Chinese were apparently taking James Bond movies seriously and have developed a predatory satellite that can actually capture other satellites in space. The vision of Ernst Stavro Blofeld in "You Only Live Twice" actually come to life.

when you guys do it its about something like OIL and lies so yeah your kinda correct

Are you so fucking stupid, that you aren't aware that there are supposed to be large deposits of oil in the area that's in dispute?
Of course you are that stupid.

Obama is such a tough guy...:rofl2:

maybe not, but the u s of a military is, especially the navy

however, we cannot afford to let china form a pacific hegemony, or would you rather that they do...seems that we fought a war with japan over that little problem

personally, i would rather just go on with the saber rattling or worse case shoot down one of their fighters 'by mistake' ... and then apologize...oops that is

their navel subsurface fleet is almost nonexistent as is their naval air

but assuming that they only use land based aircraft, we have a few of those that can be deployed there

then one cruise missile per ship either air, land, sea or subsurface can work also.

that is all for today, i have a bout of gi flu and feel lousy

as for obama being such a tough guy, he won two presidential elections

I gather you don't spend much time reading Janes'.

I gather you don't spend much time reading Janes'.

i guess not, i spent most of my career as a senior aerospace software engineer having worked for the deep space network at jpl, naval air, sea and subsurface, usmc, army and gps projects just to name a few.

while china has icbms, so do we and i rather doubt that they are any more willing to use theirs than we want to use ours. as i said before, they the largest land force, their other forces are less forceful than ours.

anyway, i feel rotten right now (gi flu) and am signing off.
