China cannot produce new jet engines and warships for a long time to come

Which has little to do with the fact that their latest carrier type 003 has no fighter planes or indeed a ski jump. They are going to CATOBAR only, either powered by steam or electromagnetic rail.

We'll see when it becomes operational. My bet is it has aircraft flying from it on day one.

Bioweapons arent really useful if they kill your own population.
But China has never worried about losing some Chinese for the glory of the emperor

I wonder if they thought we would destroy our own economy with extended lockdowns past the original 15?
Probably not. we do things to ourselves most of the time without additional China malign
China has too many people anyway.

I suggest you look closely at that second photo. That is a catapult launch with barrier recovery just like on US carriers. The ski ramp is just being conservative on the Chinese part.
China currently has two aircraft carriers, both built to a Soviet design with ski-jump ramps at the bow. Their ability to launch effective fighter sorties is limited by their lack of catapults, which are needed to push more heavily-laden aircraft up to speed and off the deck.

China's third carrier design, designated Type 003, does not have this limitation. The vessel is built with diesel-electric propulsion and (likely) electromagnetic launch catapults, skipping over first-generation steam catapult systems in favor of the latest technology developed by the U.S. Navy. This capability will enable it to support more fighter aircraft, fixed-wing airborne early warning aircraft, and higher-tempo flight operations - increasing its air wing's reach and effectiveness.

China does yet have an operational catapult type carrier.

On the subject of aircraft carriers and the Chinese, their so-called carrier killer missile may have its work cut out attempting to take out a US or a British carrier.

America: Why The US Navy Tried To Destroy Their Own Aircraft Carrier

USS America was one tough US Navy aircraft carrier. The Navy in an experiment tried to sink it – and it did not exactly go so well for those trying to do the sinking: China lauds its anti-ship missiles that are nicknamed carrier killers, but just how difficult is it to sink U.S. aircraft carriers? The USS America is a case in point. The America had a distinguished service history since its commissioning in 1965. The flat-top was retired in 1996 and the Navy wanted to know how a carrier would react to explosions that would simulate an attack. During explosive tests almost ten years later it took four weeks to the carrier before America was finally scuttled. So, this action showed that the America could take a punch and not go down easily.

In various areas, including education, raw materials, advanced components, and intellectual property, China is believed to be dependent on the US and its allies,

The Chinese have always respected intellectual property rights.
